Job Description

- Provide input for department KPIs/G&Os and budget planning.
- Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
- Optimize throughput, process capability, and uptime of production processes.
- Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Perform and/or lead initial installation of production equipment as well as mechanical adjustments and controls set-up.
- Participate as a member of the core team assigned to an area to troubleshoot technical problems quickly and effectively.
- Create and maintain all required documentation for internal and customer process approvals.
- Train production personnel in new or existing methods.
- Manage interdepartmental project activities related to engineering, process changes, and NPI.
- Coordinate interactions with equipment suppliers and prepare and present cost/benefit analyses.
- Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness.
- Communicate manufacturing capabilities, or other information to facilitate production processes.
- Investigate or resolve operational problems such as material use variances and bottlenecks.
- Estimate costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new designs.
- Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
- Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance.
- Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned (includes all non-essential or non-major activities).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field.
- 1+ years of experience in an engineer role in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and problem solving skills.
- Self-motivated and self-directed with good scheduling skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment to create solutions and keep project schedules.
- Knowledge of assembly processes.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of process improvement processes.
- Proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks or AutoCAD for jig, fixture and small assembly design.
- Experience in tier 1 automotive or similar manufacturing environment.
- Plastics injection molding experience.
- Die/Mold and equipment trouble-shooting experience.

Job Summary:
DENSO is looking for a Process Engineer 1 in the Athens, TN location. This person will apply their knowledge of materials, engineering theory, and methods to design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems or related processes. The position may also work with commercial or industrial designers to refine product designs to increase productivity and decrease costs.
