Job Description

- Work with Production to drive process improvement by helping define, manage and optimize processes within the manufacturing environment.
- Collaborates with Operators, Engineers, and Product Development to optimize processes to meet customer specifications and business goals.
- Uses structured problem-solving methods to address non-conformances in product and process.
- Responsible for identifying and developing monitoring methods for process control, including methods, equipment recommendations, and implementation.
- Assists manufacturing in developing standard operating procedures based on best practices both internally as well as from outside sources such as suppliers, vendors, and inter-company exchanges.
- Assists in the tracking of quality metrics and forming actionable plans for addressing non-conformances
- Supports safety initiatives for automated monitoring, safety lock-outs, and other safety methods through equipment recommendations and modifications with assistance from Engineering and Safety Management.
- Initiates and participates in continuous improvement projects, including kaizen and similar events.
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s or higher preferred) in Engineering, Science, or similar discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing.
- Nonwovens/textiles, fibers, film, extrusion background preferred.
- Proven ability to identify root cause and creatively bringing issues to resolution.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
- Team-oriented and responsive to customer and internal shareholder needs.
- Exposure to Six Sigma and LEAN methodologies is highly desirable.
- Experience with process control methods including types, set-up, and installation of equipment for monitoring various process variables.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work across disciplines including operations, quality, engineering, and product development.
- Position is located in Durham, NC
- Travel will be required and normally 10%
- Relocation is provided
