Fluor’s Mining and Metals Business line provides these engineering services to the mining industry globally with a focus on the engineering, procurement, and construction of processing and infrastructure facilities associated with the recovery of metals and minerals.
This position is responsible for providing all aspects of mineral processing and extractive metallurgy engineering and technical support for a variety of metallurgical systems at all stages of a mine’s project development cycle.
Your day-to- day activities and responsibilities include:
• Performing a broad range of process engineering technology assignments specific to the mining industry;
• Planning and conducting work in evaluation, selection, and application of standard process engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria;
• Periodically reviewing work of others to assure overall quality of process designs;
• Contacting and consulting with other engineering disciplines within the Company in addition to process engineers and supervisors;
• Understanding and following the effort-hours budget and process schedule;
• Supporting execution of the Quality Plan to ensure that work product meets defined requirement and standards, as needed;
• Applying mathematical calculations and basic process engineering principals to solve defined problems and size and select process equipment for comminution and beneficiation applications.

Basic Job Requirements
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job, including;
- Interpretation of metallurgical test work
- Ability to read and interpret Process Flow Diagrams. P&IDs and other engineering documentation
- Experience with process simulation software for the development of Heat and Material Balances
- Knowledge of process equipment commonly used in mineral processing or hydrometallurgical facilities.
• Experience the design and construction of mineral processing facilities for the recovery of copper, nickel, gold, or other base and precious metals
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines;
• Familiarity with the industry requirements for the development of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.Market Rate
The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
