      Location Description

      Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.


      Responsibilities

      This is a 2nd shift position and the hours are 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM.

      Summary:

      As a Quality Assurance Lab Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our products. Your meticulous attention to detail and adherence to standardized procedures will guarantee that all incoming materials and outgoing products meet our rigorous quality standards. By maintaining accurate documentation and conducting analyses, you’ll contribute to the delivery of safe and high-quality products, benefiting both Michael Foods and out valued customers.

      Responsibilities:

      • Receive and prepare samples for microbiological, chemical, or process analysis, adhering to standardized procedures.
      • Perform laboratory analysis using established test methods to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
      • Review test results against specification, maintain accurate and legible documentation.
      • Practice Good Laboratory Practices (GLP’s) and ensure equipment checks and safety monitoring.
      • Assist in maintaining the lab’s quality control system and database.
      • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including storage areas.
      • Support Quality and Company initiatives and actively participate in cross – functional teams.
      • Perform bacterial identifications, sterilize microbiological wasted and biohazards, and prepare media for testing (for microbiology lab).
      • Conduct process/chemical analysis, work safely with chemicals, and prepare solutions for production (for chemistry/process lab).
      • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings/trainings, always ensuring regulatory compliance.
      • Assume personal responsibility for a safe and health workplace and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
      • Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.


      Qualifications

      Qualifications:

      • One year certificate from college or technical school in Food Science, Biological Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Safety, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience.
      • Ability to read, interpret and communicate effectively with various documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
      • Strong mathematical skills, including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and interpret bar graphs.
      • Excellent reasoning ability, with capacity to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
      • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
      • Knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles essential for microbiology and chemistry testing.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, bilingual in Spanish a plus.
      • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
