      Summary of Position:

      The Combustible Dust / Process Safety Specialist provides technical services and guidance to support Process Safety improvement activities globally (with a focus on USA and Canada) to clients in various industries. Position involves professional work in research, development, design, operation, evaluation, and improvement of chemical processes, plants, equipment, methods, or products with a primary emphasis in the areas of Combustible Dust and Flammable Materials. Provide recommendations for appropriate practical improvements, recommend testing (when needed), and assist clients in the interpretation and application of technical information applicable to their processing needs.

      Position Responsibilities:

      • Primary responsibility will be to provide Combustible Dust Consulting support including,
        • performing dust hazard analyses at client’s facility or remotely
        • conduct electrical area classifications for combustible dust
        • writing/reviewing reports
        • providing recommendations based on test results
        • investigating fires and explosion incidents
        • providing combustible dust training courses to clients and internal staff
        • Review of management systems
        • Equipment evaluations
      • Provide process safety assessments, reviews, or evaluations for equipment, processes, or procedures at a client’s facility or remotely to other compliance standards/regulations (NFPA, API, OSHA, Internal Client Standards, etc.).
      • Follow-up on new opportunities and prepare quotations to prospective clients.
      • Develop technical reports as required.
      • Perform technical reviews for peers which could include marketing papers, presentations, reports, etc.
      • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

      Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations (NFPA, Building & Fire Codes, OSHA, etc.)
      • Strong personal communications and leadership skills
      • Must be able to work well under pressure within a team environment
      • Must deliver reports and analysis documents within time-driven deadlines

      Required Education and Experience:

      • BS (or Higher) in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Fire Protection) or other safety related field
      • Safety-related designation preferred (CSP, CFEI, CCPSC, PE, etc.)
      • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of process safety
      • Experience and strong knowledge in safety-related areas (PSM, RMP, combustible dust, chemical reaction hazards, flammable liquids/gases, etc.)
      • Experience in performing process safety assessments and evaluations to OSHA and PSM standards.
      • Effective and continued communication with clients and consulting team.
      • Able to work with a team on projects and independently on projects or tasks.

      Physical Demands:

      • Must be able to travel to and work in a variety of client locations, environments and conditions such as: climbing stairs, walking long distances, walking on rough terrain, working in the heat and/or cold, indoors or outdoors
      • Must be able to accommodate working during various shifts as client activities are scheduled
      • Some remote client locations require long periods of driving

      Required Travel:

      • Position requires travel, up to 50%, and may require international travel.
