      The Sr. Procurement Analyst will be responsible for providing expert analytical and strategic sourcing support, as well as developing cost reduction strategies for multiple business partners. They will assist the Procurement team to create, innovate and deliver supply chain solutions that align with Markel’s business objectives, as well as managing enterprise-wide procurement policies and procedures leveraging third party tools and vendor resources to ensure expenditures are optimized. This position will play a critical role in issue resolution, contract management, and supplier management working with stakeholders to deliver both tangible benefit and value to Markel.

      The Procurement Analyst will be responsible for providing analytical insights and sourcing support for the Markel Global Procurement team. They will assist in creating, innovating and delivering solutions that align with Markel’s business objectives, including optimization and supplier consolidation where appropriate.

      Senior Procurement Analyst:

      • Gather stakeholder and subject-matter insights/business requirements to ensure sourcing solutions meet business needs.
      • Understand, create and manage competitive RFx templates, contracts and requirement documents for pricing, financial and risk analysis.
      • Identify cost savings opportunities through spend analysis, collaboration with business stakeholders and Global Procurement team.
      • Contribute to negotiation strategy development and execution.
      • Work with Directors and Procurement Analysts to establish and maintain supplier contracts.
      • Develop and build relationships with key suppliers.
      • Measure supplier performance using quantitative data, based on cost, quality and service level metrics.
      • Gather supplier performance feedback from business partners and conduct quarterly business reviews.
      • Develop deep category specific knowledge and deliver strategic direction for the IT hardware and software categories in coordination and collaboration with the Global Procurement Team.
      • Manage Sourcing and Supplier Onboarding and coordinate due diligence process and procedures.
      • Deliver supply management support and solutions, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic initiatives.
      • Process and manage purchase orders and resolve invoice queries.
      • Maximize the ROI on Markel spend with third party suppliers and deliver on savings targets and financial goals
      • General procurement administration as and when required

      Qualifications

      • BA/BS degree in business, supply chain, procurement, finance or related field.
      • 5-7 years of professional experience in strategic sourcing, category management, finance operations, & analytics
      • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams/partnerships
      • Strong oral and written communications skills
      • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
      • Meeting facilitation and presentation skills
      • Knowledge of financial accounting, strategic sourcing, and supplier management concepts

      Procurement Analyst:

      Job Responsibilities

      • This position will play a critical role in assisting Directors and Sr. Procurement Analysts with:
        • Negotiating and processing low to mid complex contracts and Statements of Work (SOW’s), including the creation of PO’s (includes software, professional services, hardware and telecom services)
        • Assisting with supplier issue resolution
        • Ensuring adherence with Procurement Governance
        • Fostering relationships with internal customers and external supplier partners
      • Provides strong analytical support to the Procurement team to pursue a wide variety of opportunities while improving procurement business efficiency and effectiveness
      • Procuring telecom services and products to support infrastructure team
      • Uses data visualization tools to help inform procurement efforts and drive positive outcomes
      • Connects the dots between what the business is trying to accomplish and how procurement can support these efforts
      • Maintains technical proficiency in those solutions required to support the procurement function (e.g.; Contract management, Document approval and procure-to- pay solutions and invoice processing solutions)
      • Assists the business stakeholders with navigating though the Global procurement processes
      • Maintains a process improvement mindset and presents team with better ways to accomplish tasks
      • Provide detailed review of supplier contracts in order to meet business needs and mitigate risk to Markel.
      • Clearly and confidently articulate potential risks, benefits, costs, and comparisons of contracts to Directors and business partners.
      • Process and handle purchase orders and resolve invoice inquiries
      • General procurement administration as and when required

      Education

      • BA/BS degree in business, procurement, finance or related field

      Work Experience/Competencies

      • 2-5 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, supplier management, strategic sourcing, category management, or data analytics
      • Achieves business results consistently

      • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
