- Prepare checklists (both external and internal), certifications, transmittals, and submission letters; submit filings to the Insurance Departments using SERFF. If electronic filings are not accepted by the Department of Insurance, email or mail filings to the State.
- Pay filing fees via EFT. For mailed filings, request checks to cover filing fees.
- If determination is made that filing is exempt from submission to the Department of Insurance, prepare Filing Assessment Memo (FASM) with backup for filing exemption and provide to Manager for review and approval.
- Submit annual filings by State driven due dates.
- Associate degree or minimum of 2 years’ experience in the insurance industry.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining superior results.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively perform duties.
- Execution oriented and a self-motivator.
- Experience in submitting filings is highly desired.
- Paralegal or Insurance designation a plus.
- Strong drafting and editing skills, including accuracy and attention to detail.
- Time-management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work activities to accomplish assigned duties by set deadlines to deliver on customer and Company expectations.
- Ability to balance compliance with Business and Company strategies and directives.
- Support Assurant goals; think beyond current role and think like a customer.

As a Product Compliance Analyst for Assurant, you will be responsible for the product development, compliance, and State filing in support of Enterprise Business objectives and priorities. You will draft forms to meet the Business needs and State requirements, review incoming regulatory changes and assess its impact on existing Assurant products, submit filings to the State Insurance Departments for approval, distribute product approvals internally, and update the internal State Filings System with all filing documentation. Additional responsibilities include assistance with preparing responses to Market Conduct inquiries, Litigation, State Surveys/Inquiries, or other special projects. You will also need exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. You must adapt to tight deadlines and have the ability to pivot between multiple projects.
About this role:
You will prepare internal compliance reviews that summarize regulatory changes and outline changes required to filed forms, rates and/or rules. Based on Business request, Analyst drafts policy language that is clear, concise, and which complies with State and Federal laws, as well as achieving company desired results. This will include sending forms, rates and/or rules for internal review and sign-off. Analysts update policy language based on input from Business, Operations, Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial, and Legal. Analyst may also need to gather competitor filings for Business.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
As the Product Compliance Analyst, you will submit new product, product enhancement and/or compliance filings to the State Insurance Departments. This function requires the Analyst to perform responsibilities such as:
The Analyst will also prepare responses to objections and inquiries from Insurance Departments regarding product and/or compliance filings. This function requires you to: (a) review Department Of Insurance objections, analyze cited statutory reference, and revise forms and reports accordingly; (b) coordinate with other internal areas, if required, to respond to Department of Insurance’s questions; (c) in certain cases, and under the supervision of the Manager, explain the Company’s position regarding some aspect of the policy/service contract structure or language, or Company procedures, and negotiate with the State insurance examiner to arrive at the desired result.
The Analyst will complete all State Filing System requirements once an approval is received from the Department of Insurance such as, complete supplemental data, replacement, and marketed product association information, generate distribution memo, and publish information to internal users.
The Analyst will gather filings and provide responses to: (a) Market Conduct requests, (b) State Surveys, (c) Data Calls, (d) Litigation requests, (e) Department inquiries, and (f) Internal and External audits.

Pay Range:
$53,700.00 - $89,900.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
