      Product Developer - Beauty

      About the Role

      The Product Developer will be responsible for driving the product development process and global product creation for their respective department/class with key responsibilities that include creation of brand appropriate stories/trend boards, overseeing sample process, daily vendor communication and negotiations, managing vendor relationships, tech pack creation and management, organizational support, calendar tracking. The Product Developer leads the team in delivering product that meets company financial goals and is on time. This position collaborates closely with Merchandising and Design, as well as cross-functional partners to capture and align the needs of the seasonal line building process for a given department/category.

      • Provide analytical, creative, and managerial support to the Product Manager, partnering in day to day running of the department.

      • Accountable for developing seasonal product stories, new products, and ideas, that are trend-right, brand appropriate, and that meet the roadmap needs given from merchandising and that hits company financial goals. Partner with the vendor community to develop these new products.

      • Partner and negotiate with vendors, both domestic and international, to hit target AUCs and delivery dates for new products, and cost negotiate to hit those target AUCs as needed.

      • Source new vendors and work to expand vendor base. Meet with vendors for any product category as required, to discuss any product opportunities.

      • Oversee training, execution and completion of assistant and associate level tasks which include Sample management and delivery tracking; Creation, preparation and maintenance of reports and recaps; Purchase order management, Tech Pack maintenance and management.

      • Create, update, and maintain clear and detailed tech packs. Partner with Design and Merchandising for approval and ensure changes are communicated to vendors prior to bulk shipments.

      • Purchase order management including vendor set up, creation, encoding, revisions, maintenance, and tracking.

      • Maintain trend boards and product line sheets with key product details to effectively communicate necessary information to cross-functional teams and partners.

      • Manage and oversee product tracking for assigned department/class to ensure on time delivery. Elevate any potential risk to the business.

      • Collaborate and maintain strong relationships with vendors and cross-functional team, including Merchandising and Design

      • Accountable for key trends and global competition for assigned department, understanding other retailers’ assortments in comparison to Claire’s/Icing; Incorporate findings and product opportunities to seasonal trend and story boards.

      • Create and facilitate an effective work environment by coaching, developing, and mentoring team, developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, modeling teamwork, recognizing and maintaining open communication.

      • *Jewelry Category: Product Developer will partner with Product Manager in the development of designs and any design activities related to this category of business. Ensure that designs adhere to AUC/financial targets and seasonal product roadmaps. Partner with teams to engineer product to hit cost targets as needed.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree required.

      • 5-6 years’ experience in product development

      • Excellent negotiation skills

      • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative environment.

      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and solution-oriented decision-making

      • Strong organizational, planning, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.

      • Demonstrate effective leadership skills, being able to run business and work autonomously.

      • Sense of urgency with demonstrated success in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

      • Flexibility and the ability to prioritize multiple deliverables · Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.

      • Understanding of current trends and how they apply to the Claire’s/Icing customer.

      • Excellent retail math skills

      • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Excel)
