      JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Product Engineer II to join our growing team.

      The Product Engineer II is responsible for new product development, VAVE/Cost Reduction projects and Sustaining Engineering activities by working with the cross-function team to design, develop and validate the design from concept to launch. The successful candidate is hands-on, has technical rigor and moderate mechanical and process design experience. This position will work closely with Senior Product Engineers, Product Management and Operations. This is a mid-level position that requires some training and supervision by Senior Engineers.

      Responsibilities:

      • Identify the requirements of product development projects, on a per project basis, and works with and through the R&D Group to fulfill those requirements.
      • Coordinate the development and implementation of product changes or new product introductions.
      • Manage design projects with a high level of complexity.
      • Participate and lead brainstorming groups, design reviews, and DFMEA/PFMEA activities.
      • Participate as a team member and at times lead multi-disciplinary teams.
      • Build and test prototypes working with Operations and test lab to complete.
      • Complete project time estimates.
      • Complete clear documentation (i.e., models/drawings, tolerance stack-ups, BOM, SOP, FAI, PPAP) for assigned projects.
      • Work with Global and Tactical Sourcing teams to specify and source materials, components and final products.
      • Assure product quality with thorough production validation, assembly, and installation processes.
      • Provide manufacturing and operations support during product launch or product change phases.
      • Learn and apply lean product development tools, systematic problem solving and critical thinking to new product development and VAVE/Cost Reduction projects.
      • Coordinate testing and certification of all products under his/her jurisdiction.

      Qualifications:

      • Education: BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
      • Experience with 3-D Parametric Solid Modeling (Autodesk Inventor experience is a plus), and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
      • Experience: 3-7 years.
      • Mid-level position in terms of the complexity of work.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Requires little supervision and training by Senior Product Engineers.
      • Maintain a professional drawing system.
      • Proven ability for problem solving.
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
      • Proven track record for on time and complete.

      Travel:

      • 20% travel is anticipated
