- Oversees editorial standards and guidelines for product information pages (PIPs) on the site
- Along with the Editorial Director, ensures product copy is clear, engaging, authoritative, and elevates the Pottery Barn brand
- Works with a team of writers to ensure seasonal and brand objectives are amplified on PIPs, working with Editorial Director to identify priorities and opportunities
- Reviews romance copy before PIP launches, coaching or redirecting writers as necessary
- Leads a team of PIP writers for seasonal launches and continuous copy optimizations
- Works closely with Merchandising, Ecomm, and Product Development teams to ensure key product attributes (design features and benefits) are provided to the copywriting team each season
- Facilitates seasonal meetings with merchants and product development partners to understand what’s special about our products
- Partners with Ecomm and Product Information Teams to ensure product copy launch milestones are met, and all PIPs are delivered accurately and on time
- Coordinates print copy projects for seasonal catalog, packaging, in-store sales collateral, and retail signage
- Proven experience managing a copy team
- A strong understanding of home décor industry and passion for product copy
- Strong organizational, cross-functional, and project management skills
- Strong writing skills, with ability to distill product details into concise, compelling and inspirational product copy for our customers
- Ability to edit copy - including your own - with an eagle eye
- A flexible and can-do attitude
- A knack for working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage a high volume of copy
- Four-year degree in a related field
- Basic Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of Figma and AirTable a plus
- Comfortable working with Ecomm processes and systems (staging sites, content management systems)
- Ability to perform work on-site in our San Francisco office

Our team of talented writers is responsible for delivering the Pottery Barn story across all channels – from site and print collateral to paid marketing. As creative marketers, we translate the big ideas of the season into compelling language that is inspirational and on-brand, creating desire for our products.
Overview of the Product Copy Manager Role
We're looking for an experienced Product Copy Manager who has a passion for the home and design space, and the creative and operational skills to lead a team of writers responsible for launching our products each season. As our product copy lead, you will lead the editorial storytelling on our product pages (PIPs). You will collaborate closely with the Merchandising, Product Development, and Product Information teams to understand what makes our assortment special, translating the “why to buys” into compelling copy that creates desire for our products. You will also manage the copywriting process, working closely with the Ecomm, Merchandising, and Creative Production teams to successfully launch a season. Candidates for this role must have a strong portfolio, a background in retail marketing, and a proven ability to manage copy teams. This role reports to the Editorial Director and candidates for this position must be willing to work in-office at our corporate headquarters in San Francisco.

Your Journey in Continued Learning
The expected starting pay range for this position is $110,000 – $135,000 annually. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
