      Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries.       The Role:

      The Product Support Manager reports directly to the RTV Product Line Managers within the MECU Management team. He / She is an independent decision maker that is not geographically constrained but will have as a minimum two Sales Area as their main focus.

      The role is product focused as opposed to commercial and concentrates on providing application knowledge, tender input with regards to recommendation of machine model, specification and quantity, and in some cases delivery scheduling.

      This role will also actively gather reliability, operating cost and operator feedback and continually feed this back to the respective Product Line Manager so the offering can be managed over its life cycle and also be very active in monitoring competitor activity and where possible gather competitor performance data and submit to the respective Product Line Manager.

      Analyse the monthly warranty report with regards to the models of the installed base in the main sales area to determine if any trend/s are emerging and visit key sites to gather firsthand information on the issue and feed this back to the Warranty and Feedback Administrator and the respective Product Line Manager.

      Key Accountabilities include:

      • Product Safety and Environmental Performance - Provide input to engineering with regards to any liability or risk related performance issues and where applicable coordinate safety recall or safety related bulletins in terms of distribution and understanding to the sales unit/s.
      • New Product Development - When required (normally Gate 0 to Gate 2) actively participate in NPD planning and customer validation.
      • Performance Data - Provide performance data to the respective Product Line manager to allow management of the product overs its life cycle.
      • Reliability Performance - In conjunction with technical support review warranty claims to understand any trend or pattern and provide input to product management and / or engineering to address.
      • New Product Release - In conjunction with product management identify opportunities where new products can be trialed.

      Key Responsibilities include:

      • EH&S - Ensuring that all reasonable steps are taken to ensure all employees are provided with a safe and healthy working environment. This includes compliance with the Sandvik safety management program.
      • Management of Specification - Ensure the machine specification and option list is maintained to avoid localised development and decline in profitability.
      • Product Configuration and Option Knowledge - Provide Sales unit/s with any knowledge or information required to develop a solution that meets a prospective customer's needs.
      • Competitive Analysis - Conduct analysis of competitor offerings and communicate this information to Sales Areas and Product Lines.
      • Technical Feedback - Provide input on possible technical and application changes to drive product improvements via Product Management and communicate with Offering Team to ensure Product Roadmaps cater to future requirements.
      • Special Option Request Management - Monitor and report on trends for changes to current specifications across the L&H flameproof offering.
      • Build a solid working relationship with the BLM/s and keep them updated and informed of Product Line activities within each specific PL.

      Your Profile:

      • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
      • At least 5 years product line experience
      • Must be medically fit to operate in an underground environment
      • Must be willing to travel extensively
      • English proficiency
      • Valid driver’s license
      • Sound business acumen
