      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      The Opportunity

      The position of Production Chemist I is within our Cardiometabolic Business Unit located in San Diego, California. This role is responsible for a variety of manufacturing support functions involving the operation of lab equipment and conduct of procedures/tasks according to established GMP, under the direction of senior staff.

      What You'll Work On

      • As the Entry para-professional in the Laboratory Technician Sub-Function, possesses basic knowledge in performing a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions.
      • Makes and records observations.
      • Performs simple calculations.
      • Collects and prepares data for evaluation.
      • Conducts laboratory support functions such as stocking and distributing supplies and equipment, arranging and dismantling apparatus, and collecting, washing, and storing glassware.
      • Performs technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.
      • May analyze compounds and manage corporate compound collection.
      • Performs technical procedures in one or more of the following areas: Production, Research and Development, Quality Control/Assurance, and/or Compliance/Environmental.
      • Maintain records and notebooks as directed in a neat, thorough and accurate manner.
      • Recommend and participate in document revisions to ensure accurate BOMs and process descriptions.
      • Operate moderately complex laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance/repair. Interface with contracted repair technicians as required.
      • Follow all safety guidelines, manufacturing policies and procedures. Operate under strict QSR and ISO compliance.
      • Perform complex formulations, component and material evaluations, equipment calibrations and maintenance.
      • Carry out functions which may require multiple task coordination.

      Required Qualifications

      • Technical Diploma
      • Experience following detailed instructions, maintaining accurate records and notes, and carrying out assignments in a thorough, conscientious fashion while adhering to safe laboratory practices.
      • Experience with problem-solving and troubleshooting in a laboratory environment.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Knowledge of a variety of lab equipment and their operation is preferred.
      • Organized and detail oriented.
      • Ability to work in a team environment.
      • Comfortable with ambiguity. Implements change when needed.
      • Continually develops his/her own skillset .
      • Promptly and effectively handles issues and problems.

      The base pay for this position is

      $21.33 – $42.67/hour
