Job Description
- Req#: 4985
- Handles the production editorial process of manuscript to bound book for simultaneous projects.
- Assesses manuscripts for copyediting and the styling of all design elements using proprietary Microsoft Word styles, for design and composition.
- Engages with freelancers and ensures that project standards and deadlines are met.
- Collates and processes proofreads and slugs in Adobe Acrobat, and checks all stages of proofs and PDFs, for text and jackets/covers.
- Copyedits flap and back cover copy, and proofreads and checks all stages of jacket/cover proofs.
- Works with editors, designers, and production managers in anticipating and resolving problems.
- Handles multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality control and meeting strict deadlines, often under tight production schedules.
- Provides backup for department as needed.
- Minimum of 2 years prior production editorial work experience; trade publishing experience preferred
- Must have strong computer/MS Word skills; Adobe Acrobat required
- Solid copyediting and proofreading skills; college-level understanding of and use of the English language; be detail-oriented, well organized, and able to set priorities under pressure
- College degree or equivalent work experience

The salary for this position is CAD $48,500-$51,300.
