Job Summary:
The Maintenance Apprentice position is an entry-level developmental role designed for individuals pursuing a career as an Industrial Millwright. Working under the guidance of experienced Maintenance Technicians, the successful candidate will learn, apply, and develop the technical skills required to maintain and repair production equipment in a food manufacturing environment.
This position is part of a formal apprenticeship program, and the successful candidate will be required to enroll in and complete the Millwright (433A) Apprenticeship training program to achieve certification.
Essential Functions of the Job:
• Assist in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment and systems under supervision.
• Support the Maintenance team with troubleshooting equipment issues, performing repairs, and documenting work in the maintenance system (MVP).
• Participate in predictive maintenance activities and help identify opportunities for equipment reliability improvements.
• Learn and follow all plant safety, food safety, and quality procedures, including HACCP, GMPs, SQF, and other relevant certifications.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and assist with inventory management of spare parts.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Warehouse teams to support operational requirements.
• Take initiative in learning mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems through on-the-job training and classroom learning.
• Actively participate in the apprenticeship training process and complete required schooling and hours as outlined by the Ministry of Labour and Skilled Trades Ontario (STO).
• Report equipment or safety concerns immediately to the Maintenance Manager.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Responsible for Food Safety and reporting any non-compliance issues to their immediate supervisor.
• Backup for this role is alternate level II or III Maintenance Technician.Minimum Qualifications:
• Registered 433a Millwright Apprentice (non-ticketed technicians, apprentice level I)
• 1 year of experience in a maintenance related role in a food manufacturing environmentPreferred Qualifications:

• The location for this role is in St. Davids, Ontario, Canada
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
• 100% of the work is performed in a production environment
• Must be available to work rotating shifts: days, afternoons, nights
• Must be available to work weekends
• Must be able to stand/walk for majority of the shift
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or with a team
• Must have reliable transportation (location is off bus route)Permanent, Full-time
