      About the role

      The Production Manager is a critical role in operations directly responsible for coordinating and executing the weekly production schedule, executing safe and food safe production, servicing our customers (OTIF), and managing direct labor costs. This role is essential in developing front line leaders through coaching and accountability, provides plant leadership during Plant Manager absences and is key to driving employee engagement in the plant.

      Key responsibilities

      • Support the SQF Food Safety and Quality System by implementing and following procedures, taking part in GMP inspections, conducting and/or participating in internal audits and management reviews and participating in training.
      • Assist in the development of production schedules with the General Manager and Materials Manager so that maximum productivity is achieved, quality standards are met, and customer delivery dates are achieved.
      • Maintain standards of housekeeping and sanitation, which are consistent with plant standards.
      • Effectively manage the work force by managing and developing direct and indirect reports effectively in production-related areas.
      • Maintain safety standards consistent with plant standards.
      • Ensure that processing equipment is operated at maximum capability. Maintains a current knowledge of new developments and modifications of equipment. Presents ideas that will bring continued improvement in productivity.
      • Participates in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
      • Presents accurate and timely production data in a form and manner usable by the Plant Controller.
      • Cooperates with the Technical Director so as to ensure that all quality and sanitation standards are met.
      • Provide timely feedback to employees and discipline as necessary.
      • Makes decisions appropriate to the plant mission/objectives, and takes corrective action with minimal or no guidance from immediate supervisor.

      Qualifications and skills

      • Bachelor's degree required.
      • Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial role (food or beverage production experience preferred).
      • Understanding of production and manufacturing processes and techniques, and on key production metrics.
      • Understanding of quality standards, and health & safety regulations.
      • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.
      • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
      • Demonstrate success as a change agent & developing/implementing continuous improvement initiatives and accountability programs.
      • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team.
      • Proficient in MS Office
