      Job Summary

      This job is located within the operations at Morton Bahamas Limited (MBL) and is responsible for proficiently supervising salt production and shipping. The Production Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Wash Plant, ensuring its readiness to run smoothly and efficiently. The role involves managing a team of production workers, coordinating shift schedules, and ensuring compliance with Production, Shipping, and Environmental Health, Safety, and Quality (EHSQ) Protocols.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Enforce company safety policies and ensure all team members follow safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
      • Supervision of Production Shift employees to produce targeted loads and to organize and monitor workflow daily.
      • Supervision of Production and Shipping Shift employees during ship loading.
      • Ensure production and shipping targets are met by coordinating and optimizing the use of all available resources (labor, equipment, and materials).
      • Accomplish production and shipping results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results of employees.
      • Maintain production schedules, adjusting as necessary to meet any changing demands.
      • Monitor production processes to ensure that the product meets established quality standards. Identify and address any quality issues that may arise.
      • Co-ordinate with Quality Control about quality for harvest, washing, and vessel loading.
      • Identify opportunities for improving efficiency and optimizing the production process. Implement and monitor improvement initiatives.
      • Enforce proper Wash Plant and Operations Mobile Equipment Preventative Maintenance by ensuring that Plant Operators and Equipment Operators are performing OPIs as scheduled.
      • Ensure the efficient operation of the Wash Plant to meet the monthly daily production target as budgeted.
      • Prepare and submit daily production reports, recording all pertinent information as it pertains to the shift.
      • Ensure that notifications and emergency work orders are entered and closed in SAP.
      • Coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Initiating and enforcing company policies and procedures with a keen emphasis on safety.
      • Assist in training shift employees.

        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

        • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
        • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
        • Strong leadership and management skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, knowledge of production processes, and familiarity with safety regulations.

        Work Environment

        This position requires knowledge and awareness of industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate. The role is primarily outdoors on the wash plant and in the ponds, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, and machinery. Addressing urgent production issues may require working outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry materials weighing up to 20 lbs. Ability to work in a hot, high-noise environment.
