What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Evaluate financial responsibility of patients and update accounts to a billable/collectible status
- Contact patients, insurance companies, and other departments regarding financial reimbursement
- Organize collection procedures in accordance with current laws to reduce uncompensated care
- Handle patient concerns with professionalism and excellent customer service skills
- Assist supervisor with new staff training and provide accurate information to visitors
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; Associate's Degree preferred
- Minimum of three years of professional fee billing experience
- Knowledge of collection laws, medical coding (CPT & ICD-9/10), and third-party billing guidelines preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations and proactive problem-solving skills
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of current collection laws and medical terminology
- Ability to interpret data and discern trends to determine appropriate course of action
- Experience using PC applications such as spreadsheets and word processing
