      An Inspector examines any of a variety of goods, services or operations for conformity to established quality, health, safety, legal, business, ethical or other standards, by performing any combination of the following duties: examines raw materials for quality and manufactured items for defects and for conformance to specifications, visually and using sample models and instruments, such as scales, gauges, templates, calipers, and micrometers; verifies that established standards are maintained relative to such matters as food-growing, processing and marketing, product, packaging, storage and transportation methods, building and facilities and business practices, operations and services. The Inspector affixes seals or tags to approved items, issues or revokes licenses and permits or ascertains that licenses and permits have been obtained and are displayed, confers with officials, interprets regulations and codes, and assists establishments in altering methods and practices to meet established standards. Investigates complaints' and violations, prepares reports of findings and action taken or recommended, files charges and testifies in court, recommends changes in standards, administrative procedures, facilities, methods, and practices.

      We are currently seeking a Professional Home Inspector to join our Public Institutions Group. You will be expected to perform independent home inspections as part of a larger team completing home inspections across Army installations throughout the United States, Asia, and Europe.

      We are looking for a detail-oriented person who is a good communicator, connects with people, is comfortable with change, and is willing to learn and adapt to an ever-changing industry that continually requires higher levels of competencies. Attention to detail is critical as is the ability to communicate very well both in writing and verbally.

      Responsibilities:

      • Perform residential home inspections using proprietary reporting software on a mobile electronic device
      • Home inspections will follow a project specific criterion including interior and exterior visual evaluations
      • Evaluate the home deficiencies including, but not limited to site issues, building materials and the conditions, health and human safety items, physical and structural conditions
      • Evaluate buildings systems for age and condition
      • Provide photographic documentation of equipment tags, site and building features, and document observations
      • Communicate clearly and openly with on-site managers
      • Communicate clearly and appropriately with tenants
      • Travel required by car and possibly by plane, all visual inspections are in person; expect to travel for weeks back-to-back to a designated installation
      • There are no management duties in this position

      Position Qualifications:

      • InterNACHI certified home inspector or
      • Licensed Home Inspector in one or more of the following states:
        • Alabama
        • Alaska
        • Arizona
        • Kentucky
        • Louisiana
        • Maryland
        • North Carolina
        • New Jersey
        • New York
        • Oklahoma
        • South Carolina
        • Texas
        • Virginia
        • Washington

      • Working knowledge of current building codes and their applicability to home inspections is a must
      • United States citizenship required
      • Ability to pass Army military base security vetting required
      • Must pass a background check
      • Must pass a drug screening
      • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle required
      • At least 2 years’ experience performing home inspections preferred
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Must be able to use a tablet/iPad in the field

      Physical Demands:

      • Must be able to walk, stretch, reach, and climb stairs
      • Must be able to climb a ladder when necessary
      • Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch
      • Must be able to open and close doors and windows
      • Must be visually able to observe details and deficiencies, sometimes in low light
      • Must be able to stand/be on your feet for up to eight (8) hours a day
      • Must be able to enter confined spaces to observe equipment

      Estimated compensation for this position is:

      35.00 – 45.00 USD

      The pay range listed is a total compensation range including bonus, if applicable. The provided range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
