      Job Description

      Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

      The Business School is seeking to appoint two Professional Teaching Fellows (teaching-focused academics) to support the delivery of its portfolio of Professional Masters Programmes. This role involves designing and delivering embedded business communication skills and academic literacies to a diverse postgraduate student body.

      This role supports the suite of Postgraduate Professional Programmes through:

      • liaising with discipline academics to embed the University’s graduate capabilities (Graduate Profiles - The University of Auckland)
      • workshops, seminars and team teaching
      • 1:1 and small group sessions
      • feedback on written and oral assessments


      Our programmes offer 15-month degrees with a strong focus on employability. The large majority of students are international learners who have English as an additional language. On some programmes, evening teaching may be required as many students are in part-time or full-time employment.

      If you are committed to ensuring that your students have an extraordinary learning experience, informed by relevant research and enhanced by appropriate learning technologies, this role will appeal. You will be expected to assist in the development of programme and course curricula, conduct research-informed teaching and carry out administrative duties as required to enable the achievement of these goals.

      There are two positions available:
      One full-time (40 hours pw), 12-month fixed term position.
      One full-time (40 hours pw), permanent position.

      Remuneration is PTF1: $100,696 - PTF4: from $132,495, depending on the level of appointment.

      He kōrero mōu | About you

      The successful applicant will have a postgraduate qualification related to English, language or communication disciplines. Relevant tertiary teaching experience is essential, and the preferred candidate will have 5-10 years’ experience working with international students at postgraduate level.

      To enhance our team, we are especially keen to hear from applicants with:

      • experience and pedagogical knowledge of e-learning/hybrid delivery.
      • strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
      • knowledge of numeracy, statistical analysis and quantitative research report writing skills.
      • learning support experience with both international and domestic tertiary students
