- Providing expert level advice, evidence and best practice on public health emergency planning and response, communications planning, and business continuity planning
- Managing projects and coordinating teams working on a specific content issue.
- Knowledge translation by retrieving, assessing and synthesizing complex research findings.
- Developing policy, training programs, and writing public health emergency response plans such as outbreak response plans, mass immunization plans and business continuity planning
- Develops and delivers public health emergency preparedness training programs and exercises to promote a culture of emergency preparedness within public health and continuous quality improvement
- Engages and influences key stakeholders in the development of emergency preparedness activities through developing relationships with government, non-governmental organizations and communities.
- Collaborates with internal and external partners to develop communication plans to support public health emergency preparedness and responses
- Represents public health on identified committees, teams or groups as required
- Masters in public health, health promotion or other relevant field with 3 years relevant experience or Baccalaureate degree in health promotion, sociology or other relevant field with 5 years relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of oppression as a social determinant of health, awareness and study of one’s own power and privilege and, appropriate public health approaches to reduce health inequities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders; expertise in developing and providing training
- Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners to support health equity work.
- Demonstrated judgment, decision making, and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated project management, planning and time management skills. Ability to work flexibly and with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated and strong group facilitation and process skills.
- Demonstrated experience in evidence informed practice, conducting rapid evidence reviews and producing evidence briefs.
- Demonstrated proficiency in LEADS
- Demonstrated innovative systems thinking with an understanding of working with communities
- Demonstrated high standards of ethics, integrity, respect and accountability
- Training in public health emergency management (incident management systems, incident command system, basic emergency management, exercise design)
- Strong computer skills required
- Action oriented and strong ability to complete time sensitive tasks
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
- Permanent full-time position; 70 hours bi-weekly

About the Opportunity
The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program Officer reports to the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Consultant in the Science and Systems Performance Team and is responsible for the planning, coordination, policy development, and project management of Public Health Emergency Program within NSHA. This includes collaboration with project team members, analyzing issues/programs from a policy perspective and performing, coordinating, and overseeing project-development.

$34.96 - $42.58 Hourly
