      Job Description:

      Sun Life Canada has embarked on an exciting journey to expand its retail wealth distribution platform to include full-service investment dealer capabilities through the launch of Sun Life Canada Securities Inc. (SLCSI), led by the Retail Wealth Enablement (RWE) team.

      Reporting to the Director, Retail Wealth Enablement, the Program and Business Manager will support the RWE team in providing strategic oversight over the execution of key deliverables for the SLCSI launch program and beyond, in close partnership with the AVP, Program Execution Lead, and, in close partnership with the Director, Retail Wealth Enablement, in supporting the operation, business, and budget management of SLCSI and supporting and overseeing various SLCSI-related business initiatives.

      This role will involve working on a large, complex program that includes multiple workstreams to operationalize the dealer, implement new technology, and transition wealth advisors to the new platform, followed by transition to an ongoing evolution of the business following launch. The successful candidate will be impact-oriented with an owner’s mindset, able to work cross-functionally with a broad group of stakeholders and a with high degree of organization.

      What will you do?

      Program Management (90% initial focus, 60% longer-term focus)

      • Manage program day-to-day by collaborating with a cross-functional team and ensuring Jira and Confluence are updated.

      • Effectively manage project processes and communications including meeting minutes, status updates, risks/issue identification and resolution.

      • Engage business partners and SMEs to identify and document business needs and user stories.

      • Facilitate meetings and support Workstream Leads to identify and assess business impacts and risks, solve complex issues, provide recommendations on options, and help define end state of desired changes.

      • Assist in coordinating the rhythm of team activities at the program level to ensure workstreams are progressing as planned.

      • Coordinate meetings with vendors and internal business and control function stakeholders as required.

      • Develop and implement effective project reporting dashboard and metrics, create weekly status reports, update risk boards, decision, and action logs, and stay intimately familiar with program work streams.

      • Keep program execution leadership aware of key issues, risks, and interdependencies as they arise.

      • Support change management activities as required.

      Business Management (10% initial focus, 40% longer-term focus)

      • Support management and reporting on Retail Wealth Enablement Priorities, Objectives, and Key Results.

      • Lead the management and administration of the department and program budgets, with oversight from the Director, Retail Wealth Enablement

      • Support RWE leaders to develop discussion materials for senior leaders and governance bodies.

      • Proactively develop relationships with business and functional stakeholders to maintain an understanding of new developments in their areas that could impact the program and business.

      • Engage stakeholders proactively to get input, keep them informed on a timely basis and manage impacts to their organizations.

      • Work closely with the Director, Retail Wealth Enablement on initiatives involving the strategic positioning of the SLCSI business.

      What do you need to succeed?

      • Resourceful and rapid learner, able to understand organizational context quickly.

      • Exhibits a high degree of initiative in undertaking and efficiently executing tasks and responsibilities.

      • Sound knowledge of project management techniques, tools, and methodologies. Excellent proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Jira, and Confluence is essential, as well as previous experience working in Agile (Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies.

      • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

      • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders across multiple teams and manage conflict.

      • Ability to think critically and solve complex problems.

      • Excellent multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills

      • Able to navigate ambiguity /complexity and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

      • Able to work independently on assignments with appropriate judgment.

      • Aptitude and willingness to learn.

      • Strong work ethic; positive and energetic attitude; results and detail oriented.

      • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation / Agile certification preferred

      • University degree or equivalent

      • Familiarity with insurance and finance industry

      • Experience with budgeting and financial management is an asset

      The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
