- Provide consultative advice and project/ program coordination services associated with the identification and application of accepted and sound project/ program management principles, standards, and methods. Prepare project estimates, schedules, technical specifications, and tendering documents.
- Collaborate, and liaise with various stakeholders both inside and outside of Ontario Power Generation.
- Maintain knowledge of government, regulator and stakeholder interests and assist with design, delivery and evaluation of stakeholder involvement programs, products and services. Prepare reports and coordinate responses to inquiries from stakeholders.
- Provide assistance, input and feedback for Business Plans, Budgets, the SEO Work Program Catalogue and other Plant Group and Corporate programs.
- Plan, coordinate and conduct assigned inspections, investigations, assessment and monitoring of Hydroelectric facilities, equipment and structures.
- Participate in benchmarking studies, as directed, and coordinate best practice investigations, and recommend improvements to business processes. In addition have a good understanding of emerging and best practice methodologies and processes in the domain of program management.
- Participate in innovation, development, and implementation of improved project/ program and work management processes, procedures, techniques, and tools.
- Interface with internal and external project/ program managers and staff to keep informed of significant issues which could have an adverse effect on overall program or project success.
- Maintain, monitor, and track plans, schedules, forecasts, budgets, and other key elements or project/ program management in order to ensure that business needs are met efficiently and effectively.
- Determine causes and deviations from the plan and make recommendations to identify issues with internal project manager/ leader for corrective action so actual performance meets planned performance.
- Conduct periodic sensitivity analysis for projects and programs to determine the effect of, and response to strategic changes such as the addition/ deletion of projects, schedule slippage or advancement, budgetary constraints, etc.
- Administer change control processes.
- Carry out or advise on project/ program management methodologies associated with the application of accepted and sound project/ program management principles, standards, and methods. Maintain project and program management policies, standards, and procedures, including those associated with project initiation, planning, execution, change control, and closure. Promote the use of established project/ program management standards and techniques on all projects/ programs.
- Monitor and report performance measures and targets for programs.
- Provide recommendations, guidance, and advice regarding quality assurance and due diligence programs, policies, standards, procedures, and activities in the business unit and its constituent units. Provide quality management and quality assurance advice and services in support of accepted and sound project/program management principles, standards, and methods. Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of quality and quality assurance related activities within the business.
- Plan, organize, and/or conduct reviews to monitor compliance with relevant policies, standards, and procedures. Refer non-compliance issues to Manager for resolution.
- Maintain a working knowledge of emerging and best practice methodologies and processes in the domains of project/program management, quality management and quality assurance, benchmarking, and performance measurement.
- Prepare or assess project/program documentation for adequacy and identify necessary remedial action. Prepare or assess project charters, plans, release estimates, budgets, work plans, schedules, business case analyses, progress reports, reviews of variance, scope change requests, etc. to support efficient and effective management of projects and programs. Collect, assemble, and summarize project status and other information (including budget, resource use, and schedule information), perform integrity checks as required and provide verbal and written reports and graphics to senior management for use in project/program management, staffing, organization, and strategic planning decisions.
- Ensure planning and control documentation is consistent with sound engineering and business principles, including commonly accepted quality assurance principles. Maintain records and documentation in keeping with relevant policies, standards, procedures, and practices. Provide expertise and guidance regarding the effective use of appropriate project planning, documentation and analysis tools such as computer based integrated resource and schedule management software. Work with internal or external project/program staff to identify major activities, key tasks, events, and milestones which are significant in terms of successful on-time, on-budget completion of identified deliverables at an appropriate level of quality and quality assurance.
- Participate in benchmarking studies, as directed, and coordinate best practice investigations, and recommend improvements to business processes.
- Identify and forecast/track the effects of linkages and dependencies with external events and other business unit projects or activities. Through discussions with various project and program team members and others, develop and/or coordinate project/program schedules, identify cost and resource predictions, and propose ways to improve resource use efficiency. Facilitate interactions within and across project teams to develop effective, coordinated work programs. Provide coordination to integrate the efforts of stakeholders throughout the project/program life cycle. Assist Manager in the resolution of planning problems.
- As assigned, act as leader over staff assigned to assist with projects and other work activities by organizing, scheduling, assigning, providing direction and checking the work. All personnel issues are referred to Manager for resolution.
- Other duties as required.
- Completed 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or is eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario, is considered an asset
- Ability to communicate well, both verbally and written, is essential;
- Working knowledge of reliability standards associated with NPCC, NERC, IESO, work control process, and standards and practices;
- Exhibits good business acumen;
- Understanding of OHSA;
- Knowledge of engineering processes, principles, and practices; knowledge of risk management concepts and risk analysis related to master schedules;
- A results-oriented focus and the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and effectively manage several projects/tasks simultaneously;
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills;
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
- Requires experience in the area of project or program management sufficient to understand the practical aspects of managing various aspects of the project life cycle.
- Requires experience in the resourcing of work programs, budgeting, logical sequencing of events, and resolution of common problems in these areas.
- Corporate organizational units, work groups, programs, and projects, and to understand how these might change in the near future.
- Requires experience or training in the practice of benchmarking/ best practice review and in the design, implementation, and tracking of performance measures.
- Calls for experience with the application of generally accepted quality assurance methodologies and standards and of quality management practices to the various aspects of a typical project life cycle.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance with and auditing policies, standards, and procedures is a pre-requisite.
- Valid Drivers License is essential.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Program Coordinator/ Advisor.
Reporting to the Section Manager, SE Prod/ Prod Support, this position is responsible to
coordinate work related to station units for the efficient and economic commissioning, operation and maintenance of hydroelectric generating stations. The Program Coordinator/Advisor will be integral in advising and influencing with strategic decision making.
Key accountabilities include managing various aspects of the program including budgeting, logical sequencing of events, and resolution of common problems in those areas.
