Work with the Managing Educator, Community Partnerships and Initiatives, to build anchor partnerships with communities across New York’s five boroughs and propose strategies to attract new and diverse audiences to The Met.
With the Managing Educator, organize community meetings to promote Museum programs, and develop and maintain relationships with leaders, artists, and organizations within targeted communities.
Maintain a database of current and potential community partners.
Serve as a primary point of contact for programs, events and experiences related to building and sustaining relationships with community partners, art and cultural organizations, and artists. This includes communication with external speakers and artists, contract educators, studio assistants, and vendors as well as internal contacts including Special Events, Procurement, Shipping and Receiving, and Technology Services.
Lead and collaborate on logistics associated with Community Partnerships and Initiatives projects. This includes room reservations, creating online calendar event listings, managing event registrations, ordering and organizing supplies, making travel arrangements, corresponding with external talent, arranging virtual and in-person planning meetings, disseminating communications to internal and external stakeholders, and processing invoices and agreements.
Maintain complete and accurate program records, including tracking program attendance, compiling participant intake information, and organizing pre and post program assessments.
Track expenses related to program materials, professional services, equipment, and honoraria.
Draft meeting agendas and correspondence.
Update onboarding materials and project planning tools for partners and collaborators.
Lead some outreach efforts and represent The Met at conferences, festivals, and meetings.
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in art history, Museum Education, or other related field, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of best practices for successful community engagement and outreach.
Knowledge of and experience working with contemporary artists.
3+ years of experience in a cultural institution or working closely with community stakeholders.
Excellent intercultural and interpersonal skills, with knowledge of New York City’s art and cultural landscape, a plus.
Strong program management, planning, and organizing skills; ability to oversee multiple resources, tasks, systems, to establish courses of action that achieve the desired results.
Ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
Administrative experience, maintaining records and drafting presentations and reports.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
Skill in public speaking with an ability to present complex information clearly.
Computer and media skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Pay Rate: $34.00 - $36.00 / Hourly

You are a skilled professional who supports the Managing Educator, Community Partnerships and Initiatives in the development and implementation of authentic relationships with community-based groups, arts and cultural organizations, and artists. You coordinate and implement logistics and operational processes and procedures for programs, events and experiences related to building and sustaining relationships with community partners, arts and cultural organizations, and artists. With guidance, you will oversee relationships with partners, to include off-site and on-site visits, co-planning and implementing programs with Education stake holders and others across the Museum, and serve as a liaison between community colleagues and relevant internal colleagues.

Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
