Job Description

- Plan and coordinate a comprehensive training and development program, including scheduling, program and agenda development, invitations, and media notifications.
- Increase the knowledge and capacity of neighborhood and community organizations, non-profits and other partners to address community issues and pursue opportunities i.e., leadership training, community projects and events, networking opportunities.
- Plan and implement the Community Advancement Leadership Institute (CALI), a year-round training program for community leaders, volunteers and non-profit organizations i.e., hosting events, identifying speakers, recruiting participants, developing/facilitating training sessions.
- Plan, facilitate and manage youth leadership development programs and special events.
- Plan and coordinate community events, information fairs and educational activities.
- Conduct training sessions; review and update existing courses; develop new courses; coordinate logistics of training sessions; negotiate with outside trainers to provide instruction.
- Manage the registration and certification process for neighborhood associations.
- Monitor effectiveness of programs and sessions; promote and market training, networking, and other opportunities.
- Track resident participation in training; maintain files; maintain database of all instructors and resident participants involved in program activities; analyze training statistics.
- Conduct surveys and research projects; analyze results and make recommendations.
- Recruit resident leaders to the Community Advancement Leadership Institute Advisory Committee; work with standing committee to ensure that program is consistent with needs of the community.
- Assist in the development of grant proposals; review grant applications; prepare grant budgets; provide oversight and monitoring of expenditures for City grants to non-profits.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports for internal and external purposes.
- Manage and/or participate in special projects as designated by the City.
- Lead complex, multi-faceted programs/projects with high public visibility or involvement by multiple parties.
- Perform a variety of research and information-gathering assignments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of youth development, and familiarity with various training techniques, such as workshops, e-learning, and on-the-job training.
- Knowledge in community outreach and engagement.
- Knowledge in program planning and design and performance measurement
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of analytical and strategic planning techniques.
- Skill in interpreting risk and needs assessments in determining program suitability.
- Skill in interpersonal relations. Skill in oral and written communication, public speaking and report writing
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple training programs simultaneously.
- Capacity to adjust training methods to suit diverse learning styles and needs.
