- May require:
- Daily travel throughout the state.
- Occasional overnight travel.
- Participation on the Emergency Response Team and/or the Food Outbreak Response Team and is subject to on call or call back 24/7.
-Proficiency with Microsoft office professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
-Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
-A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
OR an associate degree in a relevant field and two (2) years of related experience.
OR high school diploma and four (4) years of related experience.The Department will not sponsor H1B visas for this position.
Driving Record: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.

Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Health Manager III/Lead t his position serves as a Rabies Investigator for the Bureau of Environmental Health Services. All duties are associated with the Rabies Control Act staying in compliance with the regulations and policies.
Job Functions:
- Perform all duties associated with the Rabies Control Act. Investigate animal bite reports, quarantine animals as required, and submit animal heads to laboratory for testing.
-Assist in the coordination and promotion of rabies clinics. Assist with conducting outreach as required when positive cases have been identified.
-Conduct or participate in conducting investigations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), programmatic guidance, and state/federal laws and regulations. Submit detailed, factual, and complete inspection reports in a timely manner as outlined in the rabies standard operating procedures for the agency. Assist with documenting and communicating with victims and stakeholders. Assist in performing vector specialist activities.
- Assist or participate in complaint investigations. Complete all necessary administrative tasks and documentation as required and requested to including fulfilling Fredon of Information (FOI) requests.
-Attending periodic staff meetings and training; provide administrative support to all programs in the Richland County office.State Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED and relevant program experience.Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
