    • Ensure Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) compliance including timelines, content, and implementation of IEP programs, placements, and services.
    • Ensure Section 504 compliance including evaluation procedures, plan implementation, and student protections.
    • Teach and support staff in best practices around creating and implementing IEPs and 504 plans.
    • Act as a primary resource for teachers, administrators and parents when problems occur involving a student with a disability or a student who is struggling academically or behaviorally.
    • Assist the Director of Student Services, Principals and other staff in developing, implementing and evaluating individual programs, services offered, diagnostics, class lists and caseload determinations.
    • Facilitate effective communication between administration, all staff members and parents.
    • Serve as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at IEP meetings when requested by principal or assistant principal or when situation warrants their attendance.
    • Complete a review of records for transfer students to ensure proper placement and appropriate service provision.
    • Train staff in the use of Functional Behavioral Assessments, the development of Positive Behavioral Support Plans, the use of non-violent crisis intervention techniques and the legal requirements of seclusion and restraint.
    • Coordinate Extended School Year Services.
    • Collaborate with summer school administration to establish appropriate services and supports for all students with disabilities in attendance.
    • Lead student services staff in development and implementation of instructional methods, materials, assistive technology and techniques, and service delivery for students at risk or with disabilities including coaching and modeling in the classroom.
    • Support and promote shared responsibility, collaboration, engagement and inclusive practices for all students.
    • Facilitate systematization of services and programs between levels by overseeing transitions for students with disabilities.
    • Work closely with principals and leadership teams to develop, implement, teach and support school-wide systems and processes such as PBIS, RtI, and the teams associated with ensuring the academic and behavioral success of all students.
    • Serve as external PBIS Universal and Tier II/III Coach for assigned buildings.
    • Collaborate with building and district leadership to regularly examine data, apply equitable teaching and behavioral management practices and constantly review professional practice.
    • Facilitate state and district assessment coordination for students with disabilities at assigned buildings.
    • Serve as a liaison to private schools as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
    • Provide oversight, support and coordination for students with IEP’s who are involved in alternative education or homebound programming in assigned grade levels.
    • We are seeking an equity driven, collaborative leader who is passionate and knowledgeable about special education to fill this student services program coordinator role at Patrick Marsh Middle School. This job is ideal for experienced special educators and student services professionals who are considered leaders by their peers, support staff and administrators. Ideal candidates have a vision for themselves in such a role and have the skill and will to lead adults. Finally, applicants are able to clearly advocate for the rights of students with disabilities in a productive way with a variety of stakeholder groups (teachers, caregivers, community agencies, etc). The specifics of the .5 FTE will be worked out with the candidate hired but will ideally be 2.5 consistent days a week.

      SUMMARY:
      A Student Services Manager provides coordination and support for special education, student services and differentiated programming. Assistance is provided to regular and special education teachers, principals, and assistant principals, in the areas of intervention and diagnosis procedures, classroom management, positive behavioral interventions and supports, curriculum development, Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives, instructional methods, instructional materials and equipment, parent consultation, problem solving and staffing, 504 development and other resource allocation. A Student Services Manager supports Principals, Assistant Principals and the Director of Student Services in promoting the success of all students by:

      SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
      Supervises and evaluates special education support staff. Provides input to administration in supervision and evaluation of student services staff.

      QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.       EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
      Master’s degree or equivalent in Educational Administration or Special Education and three to five years of experience as special education coordinator, lead special education teacher, or other type of leadership role in a public school system.
      Experience in providing in-service training for staff in the area of instructional practice. Experience in using technology for instructional and administrative applications.

      COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE SKILLS:
      Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general education periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, staff, parents, administrators, school board, and community.

      MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
      Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of geometry and algebra. Ability to work with mathematical statistics.

      OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
      Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software applications. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in written and verbal format. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district and school board policies.

      ANALYTICAL AND REASONING ABILITY:
      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
