      The Office of Distance Education is looking for a Program Manager, Digital Accessibility who possesses a strong background in accessibility requirements, training, and remediating electronic files for accessibility. As a key member of our team, the Program Manager will thrive in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment, engaging daily with faculty, department heads, and administrators. This role is crucial in providing digital content accessibility support to academic units across the university, ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations to enhance the learning experience for all students. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accessibility requirements, coupled with excellent communication and organizational skills.       Job Description Summary

      The Program Manager, Content Accessibility, under direction, plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration of the Digital Content Accessibility Program. The Program Manager will lead efforts to support faculty and staff in the remediation and creation of accessible digital content in compliance with the Digital Accessibility Final Rule standards.

      Responsibilities

      Program Development and Management:

      • Manages digital accessibility initiatives, provide training and resources, to include the development and facilitation of programs including digital content accessibility training, seminars, and workshops for faculty and staff and the development and production of materials designed for the program.

      • Generates digital content accessibility reports for university administrators.

      • Plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities for the program.

      • Manages the development, implementation, and presentation of accessibility initiatives for digital content and tracks progress of digital content accessibility initiatives to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and regulations.

      • Develops and implements procedures for the administration of the program.

      Leadership and Supervision:

      • Manages a team of student workers who will assist in digital content remediation and accessibility improvements across campus.

      • Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program.

      Communication and Collaboration:

      • Maintains and develops communications between partners by attending meetings and conference calls.

      • Works with academic department heads and faculty to promote and implement accessibility best practices.

      • Schedules faculty and staff training and coordinate resources.

      Performs other duties as assigned

      Qualifications

      Required Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, computer science, accessibility studies, or related field.

      • Five years related experience with a minimum of three years of experience in digital accessibility, instructional design, or a related role in higher education including supervisory experience.

      Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

      • Certification in digital accessibility (e.g., Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS), Accessible Document Specialist (ADS), or equivalent.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365

      • Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services.

      • Ability to think and act strategically.

      • Strong organization and communication skills including verbal and written communication, problem solving, and decision making.

      • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.

      • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams in an academic environment.

      • Strong knowledge of digital accessibility standards, including WCAG, Section 508, and ADA compliance.

      • Proficiency with accessibility tools such as Ally, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office accessibility checkers, and screen readers.

      Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro

      • Knowledge of the Canvas Learning Management Systems.

      • Experience with HTML, CSS, and web accessibility principles.
