      At the SCS English Language Center (ELC) , academic excellence meets English language and cultural immersion in programs for students and teachers of English as a second language. The ELC experience integrates intensive academic preparation, critical thinking, and cultural awareness to help students improve English for academic, professional, or personal life.

      The English Language Center is situated within Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies (SCS). SCS seeks to foster a collaborative, innovative, and student-first culture shaped by Georgetown’s Jesuit heritage and values.       At the English Language Center (ELC), academic excellence meets English language and cultural immersion in programs for students and teachers of English as a second language. The ELC experience integrates intensive academic preparation, critical thinking, and cultural awareness to help students improve English for academic, professional, or personal life. The ELC Program Manager helps provide operational academic program management to ensure development and delivery of quality programs while maintaining a smoothly-functioning office.

      Job Overview

      The Program Manager provides critical operations management of all programs in the ELC - including tasks that include but are not limited to course calendar planning, Destiny Courseware setup, classroom registration management, coordination and administration of language testing, instructional technology reservations, student record maintenance, and Canvas LMS support for faculty and students. They also provide administrative support for program faculty, and assist with administrative tasks for other ELC programs, as needed.

      As well, the Program Manager assists in marketing and recruitment responsibilities for the ELC programs; organizes and participates in promotional outreach webinars and virtual events; and coordinates social media content, for the ELC to maintain and expand its open enrollment populations, application-based and custom program offerings.

      Work Interactions

      Supervision: Reports to the Director of Programs, ELC.

      Staff: Interacts with ELC program administrators, SCS Marketing Team, SCS non-credit non-degree program leadership and administrators.

      Students: Assists prospective and current students with registration and onboarding and program-related student requests.

      Faculty: Supports Associate faculty with Destiny/Banner courses; communicates final enrollment information to instructors, informs instructors of course grade procedures and deadlines; confirms receipt of all course grades; and verifies grades in Destiny.

      University: Employs excellent communication skills in order to have clear communication with key offices on campus, including the Registrar, student accounts, SCS marketing, CETS (classroom technology), Office of Transportation Management, Campus Store, and University Information Services.

      SCS: Joins all SCS staff in supporting SCS Commencement activities.

      Impact of Position

      The increase in quality of SCS’ ELC programs is directly dependent on the performance of the Program Manager. These program offerings directly contribute to SCS’ ability to achieve its English language program revenue targets.

      Requirements and Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree
      • 3 years of administrative experience - preferably within a higher education environment
      • Experience advising and working with international students
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills
      • Experience supporting international students
      • Outstanding MS Office skills
      • Comfortable learning/using technology, including student information databases (Banner, Destiny, LMS such as Canvas)

      Preferred Qualifications

      • International student recruitment experience
      • Experience with Banner, Cognos, Destiny, Looker and other student data management applications
      • Experience living or working outside the U.S.
      • Experience working with WordPress CMS
      • Marketing and outreach experience
      • Experience managing or supporting online programs
      • Fluency in a second language such as Spanish, Arabic, or French
