The Program Specialist will work with the Carolina Hunger Initiative on projects focused on increasing access to healthy foods for North Carolinians. The position will primarily support projects related to USDA Summer Nutrition Programs, including SUN Bucks/Summer EBT and the Summer Food Service Program/National School Lunch Program Seamless Summer Option, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed). The Program Specialist job duties will include assisting with projects and activities related to expanding participation in federal child nutrition programs, supporting communications activities, assisting with the development and dissemination of program materials and coordinating and taking notes during meetings. The position will also assist with tracking project activities, order and maintaining project supplies, record expenditures in budget tracking spreadsheet, assist with organizing and maintaining Microsoft Teams sites, and collaborating with team members and partner organizations in the organization as directed.
The Program Specialist position will travel across North Carolina to support project-related events, some of which are outdoors in the heat and require transporting large amounts of heavy supplies. Staff members must be able to rent and drive vehicles such as minivans and large SUVs to transport the supplies (rental vehicles are paid for by the project). Staff members must also be able to pack supplies, load/unload heavy items from vehicles, and assemble items.
This is a 1-year time-limited position with the possibility to extend beyond dependent on funding.About the company
