Position Overview :
The Supervisor will assist in enhancing the quality of life for youth residing in the Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP) located in the Bronx. The program provides housing and support services to youth aged 18-21. The Supervisor will engage youth effectively using Motivational Interviewing, Conflict Resolution, Mediation and other treatment modalities when delivering services and building relationships with youth as they prepare to transition to independent living. The Supervisor will oversee the provision of services based on service plans, needs and goals as identified through intake and assessments. The Supervisor will work closely with Youth Advocates to prepare youth for independent living. The Supervisor will oversee Housing Specialist as they engage with youth in identifying supportive housing, affordable housing or other stable housing options. In addition, Supervisor will oversee the Educational Vocational Specialist in creating an individual plan that will meet the educational or vocational needs of each youth. Supervisor will maintain compliance with Children’s Village, ACS and OCFS standards, policies and procedures. The Supervisor will receive training in trauma, youth engagement, coaching, and how to navigate the educational, career, and housing systems and resources in NYC.
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social work, Forensic Psychology or Criminal Justice from an accredited college. Must have five (5) years supervisory experience working with homeless, ACS and or criminal justice involved youth. Some experience in the field of housing; education/workforce development; substance use, mental health, public health and/or criminal justice preferred. Must have an understanding of adolescent development. Must have good time management skills. Must be a team player. Must be flexible as some evenings are required in order to meet the schedules of youth. Must have a driver’s license and be able to travel within 5 boroughs.
Salary: $65,000 flat annual rate
