Job Description

- Advise on strategic policies and operational procedures, monitor, analyse and assess the impact of new initiatives
- Author information and analytical reports (including Council reports) and creates presentations for the Director and Divisional Management Team (DMT) to assist in the provision of information to Councillors, constituents, advocates, service providers, local planning groups, area Municipalities, community agencies, key stakeholders and other Regional departments
- Facilitate divisional meetings and sessions to elicit information from various levels of staff to drive key departmental/divisional initiatives
- Provide expert guidance and leadership in coordinating key events, training and coaching sessions, projects and initiatives in collaboration with internal and external resources
- Provide guidance and essential program information enabling the Directors to make informed decisions for effective program administration
- Collaborate with the Corporate Financial Support Unit in preparation for each budget cycle to ensure position management alignment
- Represent the Division as required on various internal and external committees and working groups
- Create, analyse and interpret internal/external surveys (including requests for information) and facilitates responses to various stakeholders
- Provide expert guidance to staff through position management and Return to Work processes
- Trend analysis to inform budget, operational and labour relations implications
- Develop and coordinate the execution of work plans and communication plans for Divisional initiatives and business planning
- Post secondary education in Human Services or related field with at least 5 years experience in Human Services
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
- Strong knowledge of concepts and methodologies related to project and change management
- Strong research and analytical skills to develop evidence informed program and project recommendations
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, corporate policies, collective agreements and departmental and corporate landscape to provide recommendations for increased service delivery and efficient business operations
- Familiarity with various legislation as it relates to Human Services program, including the Housing Services Act, Residential Tenancies Act, Ontario Works Act, and Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Working knowledge of technologies required to support the above noted responsibilities such as MS Office, SAMS, OCCMS, CMS, CBS, FS Pro
- Sound judgment and critical thinking with the ability to problem solve and resolve conflict with tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrated ability to foster strong and effective working relationships with peers and senior management
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, and a proven ability to present to various audiences, both internal and external to Peel,
- Ability to manage priorities in a context of competing demands and ensure deadlines are met and objectives advanced

The PSA supports the management team to ensure all services are delivered effectively and efficiently. This includes conducting research, interpreting and analyzing complex information related to specific divisional requests and provides strategic recommendations that will positively impact the development, implementation, and continuous process improvement for division’s programs.
