      Summary of Duties:

      Washington State University’s Cougs Rise Program is seeking a Project Coordinator to join our team. Cougs Rise is an Office of Academic Engagement (OAE) student success initiative funded by the US Department of Education, focused on supporting college access and the successful transition of low-income and first-generation students from across the state. Cougs Rise delivers professional and peer services that build a supportive community and enables students to engage in the highly impactful academic experiences of WSU. The Project Coordinator will be an integral member of the team, working alongside the Project Director to develop and implement academic year and summer programming, supervising student mentors, and functioning as a liaison with WSU departments and external constituents.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

      • Demonstrated experience working successfully with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the public.

      • Demonstrated experience in student service programming.

      • Broad knowledge of, and work experience with, student transition issues and retention related to the target population.

      • Demonstrated computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

      • Ability, and willingness, to work some weekends and evenings.


      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Master’s degree in education or related field.

      • Oral and written fluency in the English and Spanish languages

      • Experience with programs serving the target populations.

      • Conflict and crisis management experience.

      • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a highly collaborative environment.

      • Well-developed written, verbal, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

      • Demonstrated and extensive problem-solving and decision-making skills.

      Monthly Salary: $4,061.90 - $5,077.36 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.       This is a temporary position.

      Temporary End Date: This is identified as a temporary position ending on August 31, 2024 due to the nature of the grant funding. However, Cougs Rise has been established since 2016 and currently has secured funding through 2025.
