- Applicants who develop and/or present programs designed to inform a population on the use, abuse, and dependency of alcohol or other drugs.
- Initiation, design and/or review of education curriculums, which include alcohol/drug, related information (pharmacology, reasons for use, chemical dependency, etc.).
- Presentations to professionals, community organizations, youth in school, on chemical dependency.
- Preparation of media campaigns, including newspaper articles and public service announcements on prevention of substance abuse.
- Training of youth, parents, and professionals in assertiveness training (“saying no” strategies), communication skills, assertive discipline, decision-making, peer helping, employee assistance programming, and/or student assistance programming.
- Consultation with community organizations or other human service providers to develop prevention programming.
- Provide OWI classes to first-time offenders.
- Inform the public of the effects of chemical dependency on families.

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Department of Human Services (DHS) merged on July 1, 2022, to form one agency, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We are seeking a Project Coordinator (Community Health Consultant).
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) division of Behavioral Health and Disability Services (BHDS) is seeking a knowledgeable, dynamic, professional to serve as the Prevention Coordinator for the Integrated Provider Network (IPN) Grant - Prevention Set Aside, funding through the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SABG), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Responsible for day-to-day grant oversight including:
1. Provide routine, daily oversight and maintenance of the IPN grant and its supplemental funding, including but not limited to: responding to contractor inquiries, requests for technical assistance, and training; reviewing monthly claims.
2. Conduct routine IPN provider performance site visits, which includes but is not limited to: communicating and scheduling visits with providers; completing necessary components of the visits through the use of developed performance measurement tools; providing technical assistance to providers in regard to visit findings; creating comprehensive reports that summarize the visit and
outlines any additional requirements needed on behalf of the provider, ensuring provider compliance with site visit requirements.
3. Assist with developing, initiating, and tracking Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Application (RFA).
4. Assist with ongoing monitoring of provider performance, including but not limited to evaluating service delivery; measuring contract deliverables; ensuring completion of and reviewing quarterly progress reports and no-show reports; and initiating/tracking corrective action plans.
5.) Conduct and review monitoring activities, including but not limited to determining budgets; conducting financial audits and retrospective reviews; monitoring for fraud, waste, and misuse of funding and issuing refund requests when necessary; completing quarterly reports; data reporting; and all other related paperwork that is required for this grant.
6. Participate in information dissemination and conveyance for HHS staff, contractors, and stakeholders through routine IPN team meetings, contractor meetings, community of practice, and other impromptu meetings.
7. Draft provider releases and network correspondence for review by IPN Leads and Bureau Chief.
8. Assist with and coordinate data analysis/reporting, quality improvement, and program evaluation.
9. Participate in the daily IPN work and activities, which includes scheduling the IPN team meetings, manage/facilitate staff discussion, and strategic planning regarding the project.
10. Assist with other related components of IPN, including but not limited to: network support, workforce development, meetings, training, and federal technical assistance.
11. Develop documents and deliverables that support grant services.
12. Manage and update project webpages.
13. Must be willing to travel the State of Iowa and out of state travel for related conferences.

6 months’ experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in prevention programs, clinical substance abuse, or preventative abuse (counselors, treatment workers) that includes:ORMasters degree in nursing, public health or science, a human services or health-oriented field, or education, may be substituted for one year of the required experience;ORcertification as a paramedic and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience as a paramedic;ORan equivalent or combination of the required education and experience, totaling seven years, will be qualifying.
