- Develop and implement detailed plans under direction of the Project Manager, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and key partners to ensure successful delivery of the Host City requirements for this major sporting event.
- Execute plans for community outreach and engagement across a variety of stakeholder groups to drive and support a community benefits plan.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to create and deliver a long-term legacy strategy aligned with established legacy pillars including sport/active living, environmental sustainability, human rights/diversity/equity/inclusion, economic impact and tourism, arts and culture.
- In keeping with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and in particular Call to Action #91, support the engagement and participation of the Indigenous community in event plans and activities.
- Coordinate community events and cultural programming to ensure community involvement leading up to and during the event.
- Manage the delivery of a comprehensive workforce/volunteer management plan inclusive of promotion, recruitment, training, scheduling and recognition.
- Represent the City and cultivate collaborative working relationships with various committees and program advisory bodies. Provide leadership at community consultation meetings, with service providers and vendors, various levels of government, and other stakeholders to ensure productive and effective project delivery.
- Work collaboratively with Secretariat colleagues and across a variety of City Divisions to ensure the delivery of quality service to efficiently and effectively meet project requirements and achieve positive event outcomes.
- Prepare formal contractual documents such as Request for Information/Proposal/Quotation (RFI/P/Q) and oversee professional services contract(s) to deliver community consultation, focus group, and market research goals within FIFA/Host City Agreements and City objectives.
- Manage assigned projects, ensuring collaborative teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, and continuous learning.
- Deal with highly confidential matters such as intergovernmental relations, intellectual property negotiations, and contractual agreements between a variety of partners and stakeholders.
- Conduct research into assigned areas ensuring that such research takes into account developments within the field, corporate policies and practices, legislation and initiatives by other levels of government.
- Ensure that project expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
- Provide project management tracking, research, meeting management, day-to-day coordination and technical support for meetings and activities of committees and program advisory bodies, and related working groups.
- Update project management platforms and documentation regularly to support the operations of the Secretariat.
- Prepare briefing/presentation/meeting material for senior management.
- Provide coordination and related support for public and other special events which aim to raise the Host City's profile (i.e. 1 year countdown events, and tournament-related announcements).
- Support and execute other projects and activities, as required
- Post-secondary education in a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with committees, community consultation groups and equity deserving communities.
- Experience in volunteer administration and management.
- Considerable experience conducting research and analysis, developing recommendations and managing and completing projects of various terms and complexities.
- Experience creating concise and effective reports, presentations, briefing notes and correspondence on policy, project, and administrative issues, often under time constraints.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to apply those skills with numerous stakeholders including clients, staff, community agencies, senior management, and government officials/politicians.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills to manage multiple assignments and meet competing deadlines.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in handling matters of confidential, proprietary or sensitive nature as they relate to other staff, public and personnel matters.
- Ability to work in a highly demanding and fast paced work environment.
- Proficiency in the use of corporate applications, in particular word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications.
- Familiarity with government legislation in the area of occupational health and safety and other relevant government legislation including the Municipal Freedom of Information Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Working within the Toronto Secretariat for the FIFA World Cup 2026, the successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the planning and delivery of this historic event in our city. Experienced in event management, you bring strong project planning and implementation skills to this position.
