      The Project Director provides leadership for BTC’s TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant, overseeing development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the program. This is a full-time grant-funded, FLSA and union exempt, at-will position, reporting to the Executive Director of Student Access and Success. This position supervises professional, clerical, and temporary positions supporting the grant and is anticipated to begin in April 2024. The grant was renewed in 2020 and is currently expected to end August 31, 2025, with potential for renewal for an additional five years.

      The federal TRIO SSS grant program helps colleges provide intensive support services for historically underserved populations including low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities. BTC’s TRIO SSS program serves 140 students per year and provides much needed and effective resources and services to support student persistence and completion. Services the program will provide to SSS project participants include a summer bridge/orientation program, which will incorporate early needs assessment and individualized success plan development. Students will receive intensive coaching and peer mentoring services and specialized, accelerated academic support, career services, and tutoring support. Participants can enroll in dedicated academic support and college success coursework, and participate in leadership development activities, cultural and educational opportunities, and an online social networking program. This program also provides financial literacy support, including financial aid navigation and FAFSA assistance.

      • Oversee development and implementation of all aspects of the grant; including budget planning, tracking and reconciliation in accordance with federal and college policies and regulations;
      • Oversee the TRIO SSS coaching program while also providing ongoing and intentional coaching services to students;
      • Develop monitoring and evaluation plans for project goals and objectives, ensuring continuous improvement and maintaining high accountability for project outcomes;
      • Coordinate project activities with other internal and external stakeholders including cross-departmental collaboration for effective wrap-around services and appropriate referrals;
      • Execute successful recruitment, assessment, and selection processes for program students;
      • Ensure that the program operates in compliance with all terms and conditions of the grant and all federal regulations;
      • Ensure all needed data is collected and performance reporting requirements are met;
      • Communicate program goals, objectives and outcomes to internal and external communities;
      • Hire, train, and direct program staff to carry out the daily activities of the project;
      • Liaise with assigned federal staff as well as state, regional, and national TRIO associations;
      • Actively collaborate with Student Services Directors Team to meet the mission of the college;
      • Serve on college committees to advance the mission of the college;
      • Perform other duties as assigned in relation to the grant’s overall goals and the work of the college.
      • Oversee organization and maintenance of electronic file records across multiple databases and systems.
      Minimum Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Business, Education, Human Services, Student Affairs, or related field;
      • Two years administrative and supervisory experience in education or a related field;
      • Two years of experience designing, managing, or implementing SSS projects or similarly complex federal or state funded projects in education or a related field.
      • Experience working with individuals of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds, and abilities;
      • Demonstrated skillset using varied computer applications including Microsoft Office products, virtual platforms, and varied databases;
      OR

      • A combination of experience and training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job will be considered.
      Preferred Qualifications:
      • Master’s Degree in Administration, Business, Education, Human Services, Student Affairs, or related field;
      • Experience as a TRIO SSS participant or personal background relevant to TRIO participant populations;
      • Experience providing direct service or case management of underserved populations including working with low-income and first-generation students and students with disabilities; including experience participating in a TRIO SSS program;
      • Demonstrated leadership in advancing data driven initiatives;
      • Experience in complex budget management.

      Physical Work Environment:
      The College is currently in hybrid operations, with assignments completed both on campus and in an online environment. Employees may need to provide their own workspace and internet access, with the College providing technical equipment and support for online work needs. When working on-campus, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus.

      This position interacts directly and frequently with employees, students and community members. This position requires frequent use of computers and exposure to terminal screens; frequent oral, written and auditory communication with others; working in an open office environment with frequent interruptions and distractions; and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to travel and work weekends and evenings when appropriate or needed is required.Compensation, Work Schedule and Benefits:
      Salary is $6,169 per month (~$74,028 annually)

      Work schedule will vary but is generally Monday through Friday, during the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. workday, about 40 hours per week; however, schedule may vary including working more than 40 hours as needed, as well as some weekends and evening work.

      Leave eligibility, use and cash-out is based on BTC Policy 525.2. Although considered "temporary", for leave purposes only, this position is designated as "Regular" and will be provided under the following criterial: This position will accrue leave based on the exempt professional schedule, 8 hours per month of sick leave, 16 hours per month of vacation leave, 3 personal leave days and paid state/college holidays. Vacation is eligible for cash-out at the end of the assignment. Benefits also include a Washington State insurance and retirement package.
