      Job Description

      The Project Engineer will work closely with Solutions Engineering and Project Management teams to optimize TOMRA’s equipment and third-party solutions for food processing, handling, and packaging. This role involves analyzing customer needs, designing engineered solutions, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring smooth project execution.

      Beyond technical expertise, the Project Engineering team is dedicated to delivering solutions that enhance customer operations, protect brands, and drive efficiency.

      Primary Job Functions:

      • Produce detailed layout designs for small to large turnkey projects by selecting the best-fit products.
      • Develop machine layouts using 2D/3D modeling to optimize engineering solutions.
      • Provide engineering support in project delivery and commissioning phases.
      • Specify and quote third-party equipment orders for integration with TOMRA’s technology.
      • Accurately record data relating to projects and ensure this aligns with the specification document and take action to resolve any outstanding questions.
      • Track project progress and generate reports to ensure execution aligns with set timelines.
      • Facilitate a smooth handover to Production Engineering and Project Management teams.
      • Engage with customers professionally, providing technical support and maintaining strong relationships.
      • Provides product support according to standard rules where appropriate including cost structuring, assembly, installation of the product and advice on minor customizations.
      • Design components and mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks and other software to meet customer specific requirements while taking into consideration cost and ease of manufacture.
      • Utilize AutoCAD to generate post-sale Detailed Line Layout drawings, Installation Drawings and Utilities Drawings.
      • Support clients solve problems with installed equipment.
      • Assist and or direct on-site service personnel to ensure components, assemblies, and complete machines are installed in accordance with design and schedule.
      • Investigate equipment failures and communicate resolutions to internal teams.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including suppliers, procurement, sales, and field service personnel.
      • Work with Engineering Manager and supervisor to meet the project financial targets by owning the assigned budget.
      • Promote a “Safety First” culture throughout the company, our customers, and our industry.

      Qualifications

      • BA/BS degree, preferably in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Management, Business or industry related subject or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • At least two years of experience in an engineering or project engineering team within a B2B organization, preferably in the industrial, automation, machinery, food industry, or engineering sectors.
      • Strong English proficiency is mandatory, including excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and clients.
      • Ability to work in an open office environment as well as industrial customer worksites.
      • Proficiency in 2D/3D drafting and design tools, with a strong focus on AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Inventor. Prior experience with 3D drafting/design tools is highly preferred.
      • Experience with packaging and/or printing machinery, a plus.
      • Proven ability to create innovative produce handling solutions.
      • Good organizational and time management skills.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

      Travel:

      • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally, as required. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport. Travel may constitute 30% of working time
