We are currently seeking a Project Geologist to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen/Buka/Madang/Goroka/Alotau/Wapenamanda/Popondetta/ Hoskins or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply). Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent. To perform the functions of the Project Geologist, the successful candidate will be Responsible for fulfilling, the exploration requirements of St Barbara whilst maintaining safe operations, training of personnel and meeting the Company’s environmental obligations. The opportunity Technical accountabilities * Ensuring safe work practices, own health, and safety of all other workers by identifying hazards and ensuring issues and risks are reported and addressed. * Supporting Senior Geologist in fulfilling the Company’s strategic plans for exploration. * Prepare drill plans and target generation strategies. * High quality logging, surface mapping and geochemical sampling whilst always ensuring data integrity. * Coordinating drilling programs, surface sampling programs and other exploration activities. * Provide interpretations of results (geochemistry and geology). * Maintain database protocols and QAQC of samples. * Liaise with team members and other departments to advance exploration programs. * Prepare and dispatch geological samples to in-country laboratories and international laboratories. * Prepare and submit reports in a timely manner (daily, weekly, monthly, technical, QAQC, etc.) * Work autonomously in a progressive team environment. Scheduling accountabilities * Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the team/crew. We would love to hear from you if you have : Essential * Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values * Ability to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access purposes. * Current unencumbered ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence * Bachelor’s degree in Geology/ Earth Sciences * At least 5 -10 years relevant exploration experience * Ability to work in remote areas. * A team player with excellent communication skills.
