      Real Projects, Real Impact: Work on live projects that are critical to the success of our organization, giving you concrete experience and outcomes to be proud of.

      At Duke Energy, our Project Management and Project controls interns assist with managing a portfolio of real capital projects and will be assigned responsibility for specific tasks within the project management process as experience and skills are developed. This can include cost, schedule, communications, risk management, quality assurance of scheduling and cost management data, and metric reporting.

      Project Management involves planning, organizing, and executing projects from initiation to closeout. Project Managers coordinate resources, tasks, and stakeholders to successfully execute a project. A project manager must have effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

      Project Controls focuses on cost and schedule to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget. Project controls also generates reporting to effectively monitor and manage project performance to help the project be successful.

      Basic/Required Qualifications

      • Currently enrolled and pursuing a four-year degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Building Science Accounting, Business, Project Management, or other related degree

      • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

      Working Conditions

      • Hybrid, field, and onsite work environment opportunities available

      • Some opportunities require a valid driver’s license

      • Many of our opportunities require a 40-hour work week
