The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Project Management co-op student/intern for the Winter 2024 work term (January to April) to provide support and leadership across a range of strategic initiatives.

      WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

      You will work with the Strategic Planning & Projects Team (SPP) within our Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department. This team provides cross departmental support for projects, ongoing operations, and accelerating progress on strategic initiatives. SPP is also responsible for supporting and facilitating the development and implementation of the department’s strategy and strategic priorities.

      WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

      The Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department is the corporate face and voice to BCI’s internal and external audiences. CIR functions as the primary interface with our clients and strives to internally represent their specific interests and unique needs. CIR works closely with governing fiduciaries and trustees and, working with our BCI colleagues, assists clients with developing their investment strategies, policies and objectives.

      CIR also develops and implements communication strategies for client, internal and external audiences; for example, working closely with our asset classes on matters relating to transaction and investment communication. The team manages media relations and engages with government and industry partners and stakeholders.

      BCI relies on CIR to be accountable for:

      • Supporting stakeholder satisfaction and client retention

      • Influencing clients’ investment policy decisions

      • Advocating and representing clients’ and other stakeholders’ interests

      • Leading corporate messaging and acting as its spokesperson

      • Managing BCI’s brand and reputation

      WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

      • Supporting the implementation of departmental projects

      • Support departmental project planning – facilitate identification of projects, planning, and timing/resourcing on a recurring basis

      • Leading and assisting in the documentation and analysis of business processes, policies, and procedures; identifying improvements and develop strategies for implementation

      • Supporting change management initiatives

      • Completing project work

      • Assisting in planning both internal and external events

      • Creating project management tools for CIR teams

      • Ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the team

      Required Skills

      • Impeccable attention to detail

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential

      • Strong interpersonal and time management skills

      • Has a keen interest in project management

      • Ability to solve problems using creative and innovative solutions

      • Ability to gather and process large amounts of data and information, and present it in a concise manner

      • Demonstrates an extremely strong work ethic and displays initiatives to strive to deliver value above and beyond the job description

      • Ability to work independently with limited direction while communicating tasks to a working team

      • Has a keen interest in learning and introducing new technologies/programs to others

      • Competitive pay:

        • $4,350 gross monthly or $4,700 gross monthly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary

          • $4,350 gross monthly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate

          • $4,700 gross monthly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree

      • Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location

      • Work term: Winter 2024 (January to April)

      • Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC

      • Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island

      • All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
