      Performs project management specialist work for Department projects. Work includes coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Critical Path Method (CPM) for Department projects, and providing support for resource leveling, priority development, project analysis, reporting, and training. Works directly with the project manager to help define the project’s goals and objectives. Work requires extensive contact with department staff, governmental agencies, and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

      Essential Duties:

      • Assesses and reports planned and completed effects of project schedule changes.
      • Ensures proper schedule controls are appropriately implemented and maintained.
      • Monitors and reports on major milestones for the program portfolio.
      • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
      • Prepares special reports by researching, collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
      • Assists in conducting project audits, managing project schedules, and analyzing progress reported against the work
        schedules.
      • Assists in updating and evaluating the accuracy of the project forecast by assessing actual cost incurred and physical
        progress achieved for all phases of the project.
      • Provides general support to the project manager and project team, as needed.
      • Coordinates project meetings and conducts presentations.
      • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.


      Minimum Qualifications:

      Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

      Experience: 1 year project management or development, construction/engineering support, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

      Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes
      • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
      • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
      • Standing-prolonged periods of time
      • Lifting-raising objects from lower to higher position/horizontally to a different position
      • Fingering-picking, pinching, typing; working primarily with fingers rather than whole hand
      • PA14: Grasping-applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm
      • Talking-expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
      • Hearing-perceive sound at normal speaking levels;receive information
      • VA06: Visual Acuity-determine work quality/make general observations of facilities/structures
