      Your Opportunity:

      The Project Manager (PM) is a professional position supporting Patient & Family Centred Care (PFCC) & Engagement at the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH). The role reports to the Manager for PFCC, ACH and will focus on enhancing, sustaining and growing a culture of PFCC & Engagement. The PM will work with the ACH Project Office Team, clinic/program leaders and the ACH PFCC and Family & Community Resource Centre core team, to ensure the successful initiation, planning, implementation, evaluation and closure of site wide PFCC & Engagement projects and initiatives. The PM applies project management, change management, risk management and quality & process improvement methodology towards the execution of this work. Outcomes will improve ACH front-line staff’s, leaders’, physicians’ ability to understand, embrace and practice PFCC. It will also assure the hospital is an active leader in the realm of meaningful consumer engagement – in particular related to other site wide, Calgary Zone or substantive projects that impact patient care and experience at ACH. Knowledge of clinical systems, as well as the literature, resources and research related to PFCC is essential for this role. Ideally the incumbent will have personal experience as a consumer of care in order to reflect critically on care delivery through a PFCC lens. This position will not incorporate any direct patient care, although leadership of consultation with and or engagement of family or youth advisors will be required. Working with a high degree of independence & accountability, and in concert with project stakeholders and operational and physician leaders, the position will provide site wide leadership in the realm of PFCC for ACH. Relationship management, conflict management, and excellent communication are important components of the position.

      Required Qualifications:

      Baccalaureate Degree in a health-related field. Master’s Degree in Business, Administration or Health related field preferred. Formal training/designations and/or experience in project management and/or quality and process improvement methodologies and tools/techniques. 3-5 years’ experience in a health care setting – acute / ambulatory preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in a leadership role. Knowledge and experience in the realm of developing strategies to action PFCC & Engagement; preference for paediatric understanding and experience. Strong knowledge of and commitment the principles and practice of Patient & Family Centred Care and Engagement. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in areas of project management, change management, data analysis and evaluation, quality and process improvement, risk management.

      In addition the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to motivate, inspire and build confidence in others to achieve common goals Demonstrated ability to manage change Excellent analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Task & Goal Oriented; able to develop and execute a project plan through to completion

      Preferred Qualifications:

      Significant lived experience as a patient and/or caregiver/family member in Alberta's health care system.
