      Job Description

      About the role:

      Takeda operates the Los Angeles plant which performs fractionation and purification of human plasma to safely produce quality therapies that save and sustain lives. The facility has evolved over the last six decades through expansions, upgrades and increases in output. To maintain a reliable supply of therapies for patients, Takeda manages projects to improve manufacturing and auxiliary processes. These projects are completed locally at the Los Angeles plant and globally throughout the Takeda Global Manufacturing Science (GMS) organization.

      The Project Manager, Capital Engineering is accountable for all business aspects of project performance relating to Capital Projects at the Los Angeles site including execution of project activities, managing project resources, overseeing financial performance and acting as liaison for senior management, R&D and other team members. You will provide input to the program prioritization process and participates in other important strategic portfolio processes to ensure funding for the objective. Project managers make launch date commitments and cash flow forecasts based on requirements and partner expectations.

      How you will contribute:

      • Responsible for performance and oversight of project portfolio supporting Capital Project including capital budgeting, monthly cash-flow updates, and project status reviews.

      • Develop and implement strategy to achieve site goals and production ramp-up targets

      • Provide clear direction on product/process development requirements and facility/equipment upgrades required to meet expectations of customers and partners.

      • Lead the team in defining program strategies and goals, and assign project tasks to ensure the project team meets all commitments.

      • Set the project strategy, schedule, align resources and provide ongoing analysis of financial and schedule performance.

      • Communicate project status updates to all levels of management.

      • Develop and manage team deliverables required for successful project completion

      • Provides technical support for all project phases; product/process development, project execution and transition into manufacturing.

      • Anticipate and resolve conflict situations to ensure win-win outcomes.

      • Must manage all project requirements including engineering design, equipment evaluation and procurement, contractor selection and coordination of all project resources to ensure successful project execution, validation and handover to manufacturing.

      • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends,, to oversee project activities.

      • Drive use of Takeda's Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) Methodology throughout Projects.

      • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement of Capital Project Management and PMO business processes

      What you bring to Takeda:

      • Bachelors' degree in science, engineering or other related technical field and 8+ years of related professional experience and 7+ years of project management experience.

      • Master's Degree in Engineering or Science discipline and PMP certification preferred.

      • Experience in FDA regulated environment preferred

      Qualifications

      • Must be well versed in Project Management tools and must have knowledge of related disciplines.

      • Must have knowledge of such principles as GMPs, FDA guidelines and purchasing practices.

      • Experience with commissioning and validation concepts, procedures, protocols and requirements to support GMP.

      • Understanding of Critical Systems, facilities, and logistics process and project implementation experience a definite plus

      Important Considerations

      At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

      • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

      • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

      • Work in a cold, wet environment.

      • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.

      • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

        • Physical Demand

          • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs.

          • In general, your work will be a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

          Work Environment

        • Some clean room and cool/hot storage conditions.

        • May be required to work in a confined area.

        • May be around moving equipment and machinery.

        • May work in a cold, wet environment.

        • No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.

        • Will work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.

        • May travel for business reasons. e.g. training and meetings.

        • Normal office environment.

      Base Salary Range: $81,900 to $117,000. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.

      The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
