      THE ROLE

      The Project Manager at CSL plays a pivotal role in leading planning studies within the collegiate sector, serving as a subject matter expert and primary client liaison. This position is responsible for overseeing project execution from start to finish, managing teams, maintaining high-quality deliverables, and ensuring strong client relationships. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior staff and supporting strategic initiatives in collaboration with Legends College partnership teams.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES

      • Act as a subject matter expert in collegiate athletics and facilities planning, guiding strategic decisions, study methodologies, and supporting business development initiatives.
      • Lead the full lifecycle of planning studies, managing timelines, budgets, quality standards, and project teams while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
      • Serve as the primary client contact, fostering strong relationships through effective communication, strategic insight, and responsive service delivery.
      • Mentor and support junior staff through training and leadership, promoting team development and knowledge-sharing across projects.
      • Collaborate with Legends College partnership teams to align planning services with institutional goals, providing strategic and operational support as needed.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

      • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Business Administration, Sports Management, Urban Planning, Economics, or a related discipline.
      • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MPA, MS in Sport Management, or related) strongly preferred.
      • 5–7 years of progressive experience in project management, consulting, or strategic planning, preferably within the sports, entertainment, or higher education sectors.
      • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex projects from inception through completion, including timeline management, team coordination, and client communication.
      • Experience working with collegiate athletic departments, universities, or sports organizations is highly desirable.
      • Prior experience leading or mentoring junior staff in a professional services environment.
      • Familiarity with feasibility studies, market research, or financial modeling in the context of sports or campus planning is a plus.

      SKILLS & ABILITIES

      • Proven ability to manage multiple planning studies simultaneously, including scope, timelines, deliverables, and budgets, while maintaining a high standard of quality.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build, maintain, and grow trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.
      • Ability to think critically and strategically about complex challenges in collegiate athletics and facilities planning, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
      • Comfortable with data analysis, market research, and synthesizing information into clear, compelling presentations and reports.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
      • Familiarity with trends and dynamics in the collegiate athletics landscape, including facility development, revenue generation, and fan engagement strategies.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint); experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, or Smartsheet) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
      • Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and pivot priorities as needed to meet evolving client and project demands.
