Project Manager (Otago)
Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Build your Project Management abilities and career in this role, where you will be supporting the delivery of diverse projects across the Otago and surrounding regions. This is a unique opportunity to join the Beca Project Strategy & Delivery team and to develop your career. Our team are working on some of the largest development and growth projects across the region providing you with exposure across transport, infrastructure, civil, water services, transport, local government, manufacturing, iwi and community related projects.
At Beca, our Project Managers work with our clients delivering a vast range of project types and scales, across industries, with no two being the same. You will be supporting the growth of the region through the delivery of iconic projects such as key infrastructure, health, transport and built environment projects across the Otago and Southland regions. This role could be based in either our Queenstown or Dunedin offices working with clients including Health NZ - Te Whatu Ora, Waka Kotahi, local and regional councils, airports, primary, secondary and tertiary educational facilities.
You will have the opportunity to both learn from our leading Principles, designers, and project specialists, as well as having scope to have your say and contribute. While being based in one of Beca’s Otago offices, working at Beca will provide you with access to a truly multi discipline business where you can draw on technical experts to support delivery of significant and complex projects. You will have input into how projects are delivered, being encouraged to make suggestions, and voice your thoughts on solutions. Mōu ake | About you
In this role, you will have plenty of scope for success. We are looking for a ‘can do’ Project Manager, with a bias for action, who is ready to learn and develop, with a real passion for project delivery and a focus on achieving great outcomes for our clients. You will enjoy working in teams, as well as having responsibility for delivery of your part of a project. You will be a relationship builder, with the ability to collaborate with others on projects, including external stakeholders, clients, contractors, iwi and community groups.
You will have previous experience working in a consulting environment either as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, Engineer or in a technical role, and are now looking to move into a delivery role within a professional consulting business. You may have run projects of different scope and scale previously and be ready to make that next step in the complexity and scale of projects you work on and will ideally have experience in contract administration and fulfilling the role of Engineers Representative with the desire to learn about local and central government funding of large infrastructure and buildings projects, and strategic regional planning.
You will be keen to build credible relationships across designers, clients, contractors, and iwi partners. You will also be passionate about learning from others, ready to listen, engage, support and positively query situations with a focus on great client outcomes. We also like to have fun along the way, so a good sense of humour will hold you in good stead. This position will provide you with wide exposure and create opportunities for career and professional development across the Beca business, both locally and across Australasia.
