      Overview of Role:

      The Project Manager will address and manage environmental projects pertaining to our manufacturing and distribution as well as guiding and promoting at the site level environmental stewardship within the Canadian Division.

      How you will make a contribution that matters:

      • Ensure than Saputo’s Environmental Policy is adhered to during the company’s daily operations in manufacturing/distribution;
      • Aid in the deployment and maintenance of site Environmental Aspect Register(EAR);
      • Aid in the deployment and management of the new Environmental Management System(EMS) (based on an ISO14001 framework);
      • Execute program audits ensure that sites are adhering to our EMS program.
      • Establish strong communications with other department leads, plant managers and regional VP’s;
      • Discuss with shareholders and identify user requirements and develop scope(s) of work that will address and correct operational environmental deficiencies;
      • Selecting appropriate methodologies and/or technologies that are best suited to address deficiencies;
      • Manage capital project(s) at our manufacturing sites associated with corrective action plans;
      • Manage and track budget(s) and achieve the agreed upon deliverable(s) while respecting timelines;
      • Responsible for updating, acquiring and maintaining environmental operating permits;
      • Negotiate municipal wastewater agreements with local municipalities;
      • Manage the day-to-day issues and deliver the required solution by delivering technical recommendations to the plant while taking into account and balancing the company’s needs and priorities;
      • When required outsource technical support services and manage the required deliverables;
      • Determine resource and budget allocation for environmental issues;

      You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications

      • Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships and effectively influence at all levels internally (peers and management) and externally (regulators);
      • Highly motivated self-starter that can operate independently with minimum supervision;
      • Can motivate others and drive change using internal and external resources

      • Strong reasoning ability - capable of breaking down complex problems into pieces that can be solved with data, analysis, assumptions, and judgment;

      • Ability to train on and implement new methodologies;

      • Technical capacity for assessing and optimizing utility systems (steam, compressed air, refrigeration, etc.), including know-how for calculating theoretical/actual performance improvements and associated savings;

      • Working knowledge of federal, provincial and local environmental standards and regulations;

      • Working knowledge of relevant ISO standards, including the 14000 and 50000 family of standards, a plus;

      • Familiarity with MS Office, PLC’s, process instrumentation and ability to read process drawings.

      • Ability to travel across Canada and be away from home for a period of time (25-50%);

      • Oral and written bilingualism (French and English) is essential: the employee will be required to communicate and collaborate with colleagues, partners and suppliers in English 50% of the time.

      • Have a valid driver’s license

      Education and Experience

      Bachelor of Science/Engineering and/or diploma in environmental science or background in
      a relevant discipline,

      EP Certification, an asset

      10-15 years of experience in Environmental Compliance and/or Environmental Sustainability
      roles, with specific experience in:

      • Implementing andreviewing/auditing environmental management systems.

      • Implementing an effective resource conservation (climate/water/waste) program in a manufacturing setting.

      • Engaging and influencing internal audiences around the benefits of sound environmental management.

      • Collecting, analyzing and

      • reporting environmental and sustainability data

      Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices within the food industry and how this relates to environmental issues;

      Management experience, the ability to manage multiple projects and bring forth the deliverables to
      stakeholders ;
