      Project Manager – IP Law

      What you will do

      Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen is seeking a Project Manager – IP Law to join the Intellectual Property Law department. The position can be located remotely or at one of Amgen’s sites in the US. Preferably, the candidate will work at Amgen’s headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California. .

      We are looking for an exceptionally organized individual with experience in program management and an understanding of AI technology.

      This new position will require project management skills and technology knowledge to manage, implement, and drive progress of various efficiency projects, including utilizing automation and AI (artificial intelligence) within IP Law organization. The Project Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders and Information Systems business partners to determine user requirements, build timelines, assist in drafting RFPs (Request for Proposals), help select amongst available solutions, aid assessment of Return On Investment. In addition, the Project Manager is responsible for creating, organizing, managing, and updating IP department resources and data. Finally, the Project Manager is responsible for staying informed of best practices related to their job responsibilities and providing innovative, impactful ideas to optimize processes to support the organization’s growth strategies.

      Responsibilities include:

      Develop and own processes to track and collaborate with stakeholders to identify key user requirements, build dashboards or slides tracking timelines, and key milestones for various automation projects

      Deploy ‘best in class’ project management skills and technical knowledge to define key milestones for each project and facilitate progress for each project, and serve as a resource for others in the department

      Provide regular reports and presentations that clearly summarize department information to aid decision making

      Serve as interface between attorneys and information system technical experts

      Set-up and coordinate meetings to drive projects to conclusion, including implementation, onboarding, and training users

      Assist department in building ChatGPT prompts, develop custom ChatGPTs ,or other available technology to automate simple projects

      Turn unstructured business issues/requests into actionable plans and further drive those projects towards high quality and meaningful deliverables

      Basic Qualifications:

      Doctorate

      Or

      Master’s degree and 2 years of project management or IS experience

      Or

      Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of project management or IS experience

      Or

      Associate’s degree and 8 years of project management or IS experience

      Or

      High school diploma / GED and 10 years of project management or IS experience

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • 5+ years of project management experience
      • 2+ years of work experience in IS or IT
      • Knowledge of patent prosecution process
      • Excellent organizational skills and a superior attention to detail
      • Advanced knowledge of ChatGPT, Sharepoint, Excel, Tableau, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
      • Advanced knowledge of various project management and data management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Power BI
      • Proficient facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving skills
      • Superior ability to work in a self-directed manner while balancing a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands
      • Project a positive, ‘can do’ attitude and eagerly contribute to all initiatives as needed and requested

      The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
