- Performs project management services for technology projects. Develops and manages the execution of comprehensive project plans. Ensures appropriate controls are in place to manage quality, scope, budget, and schedule from project initiation through close-out.
- Ensures key elements of the project charter (including objectives, scope, success metrics and expected benefits) are clearly defined and agreed to prior to project initiation.
- Creates and manages project plans and documentation including scope, schedule, budget, resource management, change management, testing, transition to operations, and sustainable support.
- Maintains project risk and issue registries and ensures that risks and issues are appropriately identified and addressed.
- Monitors and reports on project progress and status. Creates routine and ad-hoc reports and escalates critical issues as appropriate.
- Manages change during project lifecycle. Responsible for negotiating changes with key stakeholders and contractors. Prepares reports and supporting documentation for all proposed project scope and cost changes and ensures that changes are approved and documented.
- Oversees and coordinates the work of consultants, vendors, contractors, and other support staff as required for specific assignments, including drafting and managing scopes of work. Assists with the procurement and administration of consultant and vendor services.
This position requires direct experience managing software implementation projects within a public transit operations environment. Our ideal candidates has led a HASTUS software implementation project and can demonstrate an understanding of transit scheduling, rostering, and dispatch workflows. Experience planning and executing complex data migrations from legacy systems is essential. Strong vendor management skills, hands-on project execution, and the ability to incorporate organizational change management activities into the project are also required. The ideal candidate brings both tactical implementation experience and the strategic ability to engage stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
This role requires being onsite a minimum of three (3) days per week.This is a limited term position that will end on 06/30/2027.

Reliable in-person attendance is an essential function of all positions. Some positions may be able to work up to two days remotely depending on department policy, business needs, and manager discretion.

Six (6) years of total credited experience.*
Five (5) years of progressive responsibility in an IT project management environment are required.
Two (2) years of lead or project management or staff management.
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is required within one (1) year of employment.Agile certification is preferred.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.*
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Salary Range
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
Minimum: $117,044.00
Maximum: $175,568.00
