      The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

      We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

      These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.

      We are looking for a Project Manager to join our People team.

      Where in Wellcome will I be working?

      You will be working in the People Strategy & Transformation team (PS&T) within the wider People team reporting to the Programme Manager, People. PS&T enables the organisation to connect so that; complex, organisational wide People projects and business as usual operations are implemented effectively; reflecting lessons we’ve learned from past initiatives. We work in partnership with teams across Wellcome including the Strategy & Programme Office and Corporate Affairs as well as our staff networks and forum. We develop, align and translate our People Strategy to help drive the Wellcome Strategy.

      What will I be doing?

      The purpose of this role is to deliver a variety of medium to complex people projects to time, , budget, and quality by taking a human-centred approach to project and change management. You will work with internal and external stakeholders often in matrix management scenarios to achieve the required outcomes across Wellcome and the People Team. You will use lessons learnt from projects for continuous improvement and contribute to the business-as-usual activities of the People Programme Team.

      As a Project Manager, you will

      • Lead and manage the integrated workstreams of own project(s) in the People Team and ensure use of best practice project management tools and techniques to help with the delivery of projects. You will Plan, direct, and co-ordinate activities to manage and implement projects from contract /proposal /initiation to final operational stage including the transition into “business-as-usual.”

      • Monitor and report on progress, issues and outcomes across projects and manage the governance and controls quality of project delivery and take a user centric focus, manage the assigned project(s)to ensure positive outcomes and benefits for Wellcome and that these are clearly articulated, agreed and understood by all stakeholders.

      • Be required to use appropriate Project Management governance structures (e.g. AgilePM, Prince2 etc.), ensure projects are managed with continuous iteration, collaboration and quality at their centre and are robust to withstand audit scrutiny.

      • Assess the assigned projects for risks, issues and assumptions, communicating these, taking action and monitoring them throughout the project lifecycle and analyse and trouble shoot project challenges; identifies optimisation potential and build strong external and internal relationships required for project delivery

      • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the People Programme methodology, supporting and contributing to an ongoing education process within the team and across Wellcome to promote the methodology as well as keep up-to-date with Industry best practice and seek out opportunities to create value for Wellcome using innovative products and services.

      • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

      Is this job for me?

      We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our People team who is passionate about making meaningful impact in the People area and making Wellcome a great place to work. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing resource and delivering projects throughout the project lifecycle. Prior experience of working in a People/HR team and managing change or transformational projects would be beneficial. In this role, you will gain experience working in a team committed to continuous improvement and you will have the opportunity to work on projects that directly impact the employee experience.

      We are looking for someone with:

      • Demonstrable Project Management experience, preferably in a People/HR capacity.

      • Experienced in the use of project/change management methodologies and tools e.g. Agile, PRINCE2, Monday.com

      • Ability to present to large groups of senior managers and influence and drive results with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority

      • Team player with ability to form effective relationships with stakeholders, employees and contingent workers in and outside the immediate team as well as able to work with ambiguity
