- Partner with cross-functional teams to successfully execute and deliver new solar projects to the execution teams for construction.
- Secure land use permits for renewable energy facilities across multiple local, state, and federal jurisdictions in New York and New England ISO regions.
- Manage technical and environmental studies for renewable energy development.
- Identify and implement innovative mitigation strategies to reduce project costs and impacts.
- Negotiate project design and mitigation measures with regulators to ensure project success while understanding project constraints.
- Manage contractors, vendors, and consultants to maintain project timelines and budgets.
- Draft original text for project origination support, public education, and investor reporting materials.
- Transfer permitted projects to execution teams and Compliance Permitting Manager for construction management.
- Provide ongoing support to Project Managers throughout the construction process.
- Act as a representative for AES in meetings with the community, elected officials, and regulators.
- Assist in cost reduction initiatives, vendor development, and invoice audits.
- Mentor analysts and senior analysts on the permitting team.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in environmental sciences, geography, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven track record in permitting expertise in development, preferably in a utility-scale environment.
- Knowledge of state siting and permitting processes, including USACE, State Regulations within the NY and New England ISOs, and federal permitting as needed.
- Strong project and case management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills in both verbal and written correspondence.
- Experience in environmental analysis, diligence, and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of solar renewable energy construction processes, real estate development, and renewable energy project evaluation and acquisition.
- Preferred knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Google Earth.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Self-starter with the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

About the Role: Join AES Clean Energy as a Permitting Project Manager, where you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our renewable energy projects. Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Permitting, you will manage permitting and land use entitlement processes, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and collaborate with developers, real estate teams, community relations, and other groups across multiple offices.
