      Hybrid working model - home and office based

      The NHS Kent & Medway People and Culture directorate is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced health professional with an interest in developing and promoting practice education. This is one of three Project Manager Placement Expansion posts, to develop placement capacity and quality by utilising multiple models of supervision and technology and diverse placements for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals.

      You will work across organisational boundaries with other members of the Education and Careers programme team and with provider organisations in both health and care sectors such NHS Trusts, private, voluntary, and independent sector providers to implement new and diverse models for practice learning. You will also scope and evaluate placement capacity and allocation models to ensure an equitable approach across the system.

      Main duties of the job

      The secondments will be until end of March 2025. Full and part time hours, job share and those wishing to retain their clinical role for part of their working week will be considered. Please contact the recruiting manager to discuss this.

      This is an excellent opportunity to use your leadership and project management skills and to work on an exciting project for the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System (KMICS). It is an ideal opportunity for somebody to consolidate their skills and experience gained in an organisational role, in a more strategic post and to develop experience of working across an integrated care system (ICS) to deliver an innovative and important programme of work.

      You will work as part of an experienced team and development opportunities and coaching support will be made available to the successful candidate.

      The postholder will oversee the development of a multi-professional placement expansion programme for the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System (KMICS), focused on increasing placement capacity, quality and learner experience for the nursing, midwifery, and allied health professionals.

      Working with learning environment leads and practice education facilitators, the post holder will provide a key link between operations, students and education providers whilst maintaining a strategic role in enhancing the quality of the learning environment for all health care learners within Kent & Medway ICS, in partnership with NHS England WTE local universities, and other local placement providers.

      This post will evaluate capacity and allocation modelling to ensure a fair and equitable approach and will also ensure placements are of a high quality and sustainable. This post will also influence and organise the development of high-quality placements/ learning environments by providing support, educational and development activities for apprentices, pre-registration students and associated mentors/educators.

      • Highly developed organisational skills, ability to prioritise own workload effectively and support work planning across a team, working to tight, often changing timescales. As an additional, desirable criterion, recent line or matrix management experience.
      • Ability to create and lead multi-disciplinary project teams or task and finish groups to support the delivery of shared objectives
      • Ability to create concise but informative communications for a range of stakeholders such as information, advice and guidance, or teaching resources.
      • Capability to act upon incomplete information, using experience to make inferences and decision making.
      • Capability to plan over short, medium, and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly.
      • Understanding the changing NHS environment and its impact on service, provision staff and patients.

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Registered healthcare professional (NMC, HCPC) with additional specialist qualification or experience in relation to education and practice development.
      • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level qualification (or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area).

      • Recent experience of either, planning and organising pre-registration practice placements, or acting as a practice educator, supervisor or assessor, or acting as a legacy mentor in a health or care environment.
      • Experience of project and programme management techniques and tools such as PRINCE2 or Managing Successful Projects (MSP).
      • Significant experience of successfully operating in politically sensitive, complex and/or challenging environments with complex
      • stakeholder management.
      • Experience of managing and reporting risks.
      • Experience of drafting written briefing papers, reports, or correspondence for a varied group of internal and external stakeholders at all levels. As an additional, desirable criterion, to include SMT level.
      • Experience of creating and giving visual and oral presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders.
      • Experience of planning and delivering improvement projects, preferably involving practice education in a health or care setting.
